I normally wouldnt get involved in the whole travel ball discussion, but I can tell you that you are not playing 5A baseball in the New Orelans / Metro area by just playing rec ball. There may be an exception to the rule from time to time, but 95% in this area are travel ball players. Smaller schools, sure it can happen.

It most certainly is and it's not even close.
Very few exceptions in my area

71 games.. is the season close to being over?
When I was 12, we played like 14 games in the regular season and I have to admit I wished it were more. I remember afterwards we played against a team from Houston and those kids were telling me they played 40 games and I was like damn that's hardcore. They weren't any better but their parents sure looked a lot more miserable.

And I can't wait for the first big lawsuit to hit one of these schools. Almost happened to a 5A school in NELA last season.
They got a new coach and swept the travel ball requirement under the rug. It will happen when little Johnny does not make the team and daddy is a lawyer...and little johny's daddy will win.
Baseball and cheerleading are the two most corrupt sports in Louisana high schools - the bigger schools. And baseball does not come close to the political and financial warfare wage to get a daughter on a cheer team...

And if your kid plays league ball he has almost zero chance of making his school team. It just doesn't happen anymore.

bullshite .. You follow every roster of every high school baseball program year in and year out in your "area" from top to bottom and know absolutely every kid's baseball resume .. Really ? What about the plethora of two-sport kids that you see on high school baseball rosters ? are they playing baseball year round from the age of 7 and then just magically picking up football when they enter high school ?

There is no travel ball requirement. You lost me on that one. All I'm saying the players who make the 5A teams played travel ball.
I agree with you on the politics involved in high school sports and that is unfortunate.
All I'm saying is the park in our area had 11 total 11 & 12 players come out for a league. They had to bring up 10 year olds just to have a league. How does anyone get better from that?

So every starter on your high school baseball team didn't play other sports in high school .. just baseball ..

Yeah. One of them ran track but it was pretty easy for him to do both. But that was it. I played travel basketball for a bit but never even thought of playing in HS. 8 of our starters my senior year went on to play college baseball. Only 1 played another sport in HS like I said, that was just track.

A north LA baseball coach required that his high school players play on his travel ball team - not in the travel ball team, then not on the high school team.

I'm pretty sure that's against the rules in Florida

That's how it was for me also. In 8th and 9th grade sure, some played multiple sports. Once we were on varsity we all only played baseball.

Well yea, I can see that being a big problem. In my area once you make a high school team you really don't play travel ball anymore. It's high school baseball followed by summer ball for the high school.

i'd say for the Catholic League minus St. Aug it's 100%
Hahnville and Destrehan 95%
St. Tammany 5A schools 90%
8-5A (and St. Aug) 30%. no wonder our district sucks

You keep saying this. Why? Nephew played travel ball on one of the best teams in the state since he was 8. He also played football and basketball as well as ran track until high school. Now that he's in high school it's just football and baseball, but that's just because basketball/baseball/track coincide at some point.

The organization still exists, it's just no longer affiliated with the high school. Simoneuax doesn't require them to play together in the summer. 2 play for the National Marucci team and others play for travel teams with no affiliation with WM at all. I don't know if they even have a Sox team past 13/14 this year.

Sorry it angers you so, but there are very few exceptions. And I know plenty tournament baseball kids that also play Independent football during the fall.
