Do yourself a favor and go with one of the big, known brand-named bats. The BBCOR suck bad enough to begin with.

my son researched on it and they rate it as the number 1 bat for 2012. Just wanted to know if anyone's kids on the board have any actual experience hitting it.

No clue on baseball bats, but I'll chime in on the Ripit brand itself. There is a guy on the softball team I've played on the past few years that bought a Ripit bat 3 years ago. The bat just really got broken in last fall, and that's with a handful of guys using it every game for fall and spring ball. Again no clue how that a) translates to baseball bats and B) what their new equipment is like; but I know when he bought it he researched and read some of the same stuff at the time about it(number 1 bat, etc).

We had a Ripit Reaper and broke it in one week of BP and a tourney. Buy an Easton Power Brigade in the weight/swing balance your son likes and be done. I swing Worth exclusively in softball, but the power brigade is the bat to swing in baseball this year.

If I were you, I would go with the Baiden axe. if he likes one pieces, get the baden axe element LINK . if he likes the two piece style, go with the baden axe elite LINK . It hits well and it has a new style knob that prevents rolling over your hands.
good luck

Have they improved the durability? I ask because we had one last year for softball and it cracked in 32 hits, indoors, with Evil BP balls made specifically to not hurt your bat. It was ridiculously hot, but lasted about 15 minutes.

I'm not sure. This is the first year iv owned a baden bat because I prefer one pieces and I love the element.
