@WojYahooNBA
Toronto has traded John Salmons to Atlanta for Lou Williams and Bebe Nugiera, source tells Yahoo.

Salmons has a team option that the Hawks will likely decline to clear up about 7 million in cap space.

Nugiera refresher:

Figured Bebe was expendable after Thursday night. Sucks Lou was never himself after tearing his ACL

I'm just hoping all of these teams waste a ton of time waiting on LeBron and Melo, and the Grizz can go out and find a good SF in free agency.

eta: I've never really understood why the Hawks aren't a bigger player in free agency.

Didn't they give Joe Johnson a huge contract a few years ago?

I love how when teams trade recent first rounders no one cares. Larkin, now Nugiera. But when you trade a future first rounder, you are desperate and it is a terrible move. Hypocritical if you ask me.

because it's been the general feeling that the ownership was cheap and/ or incompetent, and to an extent, that's been the case. mgmt hasn't had the best rep either. and when your fan base is seen as nonexistent, or there's seemingly more ppl rooting for the other team's star players than Hawks fans at home games, that doesn't help to attract FAs either.

all that said, Ferry's put together an attractive team if you're a big name FA looking for a ready made team to win with.

I was listening to a podcast last week where I think it was Zach Lowe said he thought the Hawks were a sleeping giant in the East.

More eastern conference teams should be good considering their market sizes.

I have been trying to tell people that the East wasn't gonna stay down forever.

That was a part of the reasoning Lowe used. He was talking about how everyone was just in awe of how the Spurs played and he pointed out that Atlanta plays basically the same way.
