Torn pectoral muscle. Our horrible pass defense just got a lot more terrible. For the LSU fans on the board, how good can Jalen Collins be? Was he ever anything decent at LSU? Any non-biased analysis on him would be great. He's got the size and the length to play corner, but since we drafted him, he just doesn't seem to have been able to put it all together.

He likely won't ever be more than serviceable.

I expect a fair and balanced response from the LSU faithful.

He was pretty solid but goddamn he couldn't find the ball in the air to save his life.

Collins was one of this boards most hated players his first few years here. Always getting burnt or having miscommunications. He was a big part of the 2013 defense that was an absolute disaster

Then his final year here, he had a great season and was our best corner out of nowhere and his measureables got him drafted highly.

That seems to be his mojo. He has all the intangibles an NFL coach would want to see, but he just doesn't put it together. Not sure if it's lack of film study, or what, but it's frustrating. Hopefully being thrust into the spotlight like this will wake his game up.

Don't you mean all the "tangibles" an NFL coach would want?

Good one what? I'm being serious. It seems like he is saying he has all the physical attributes the coaches would want (which are tangible assets) but is lacking in the intangible department (film study)

Just trying to clear it up

When evaluating NFL players, there are many desirable traits that are broadly lumped under the category of “intangibles.” These include things like character, leadership, being a good teammate, as well as more specific on-field qualities like good field vision or a good “sense of the game.”

I mean his intangibles. His perceived skills, if you would. He has the tools necessary to be a great to elite corner, but he can't translate his intangibles to on field productivity.

Edit: Am I using this word wrong? That's how it's used to discuss draft prospects, etc. They have the intangibles to compete, but will need to put it all together on the field to raise their draft stock, etc.

Robinson was the LSU gem from that group. Everyone here was pretty fair of Collins. Dude's also a gamer. I'd expect a great game this week with the world watching then a "oh frick Collins come on!!!" next week.

ETA: I'm in the "you're using the word wrong" camp. Intangibles are the pieces you can't measure. Tangibles are the assets you know for a fact Collins has. Body, 4.3 speed, corner hips, stuff like that.

Sucks hard. If the offense doesn't get back to humming along could easily see is winning one game the rest of the season
