did people realize he was the best player in the league?

He enters the league in the middle of the Bird-Magic era. So at what point did he claim the throne?

Larry Bird called him god in basketball shorts in like his 2nd season. I think around 88-89 it was commonly accepted that he was the best player in the league, so like his 4th-5th year.

He was the best player in the world from the 86-87 season up until his 6th championship.

But I thought you had to have rings to be in consideration? Obviously, the earliest would've been 1991.

Anyone that wasn't around doesn't understand.

Michael Jordan was the greatest athlete that has ever lived and he will never be surpassed.

If you were around to see it and understand it, it makes you laugh when people talk about anyone surpassing him.

Lebron?

Mike would have eaten Labron's soul year after year had they been contemporaries.
