You just say "new information has come to light and we've decided it is best for both parties to go in different directions."

That would help the university save face IMO
a few more weeks and he would have been taken in the draft and gone from Oregon State, and they were hoping to run out the clock on that and not have to suffer any consequences on the field

how do you account for games he pitched if he never should have been there in the first place? The damage is done to the institution in the court of public opinion. They put baseball victories ahead of the safety of their community.

Who is they? I don't think letting a guy pitch this weekend says that the school doesn't care about the safety of the community. That's a bit much. I don't think he's running around molesting people 24-7 here.

If these records were kept under wraps until recently, who is to say the coach knew?

Who gives a shite? Kid paid his dues the state said are due. Unless he's actively committing crimes, let him move on. Either that or put his arse back in jail if you're so afraid of him.

I mean, I somewhat care that our govt puts people that I believe will have the propensity to molest children back in the public

I sorta of get what you are saying, but it's still a stretch. I don't think your definition of 'propensity to molest' is the same as everyone else's involved.

If he reoffends, lock his arse up.

Sometimes people do learn their lesson.

If he was over 18, I would definitely have the same opinion as you. Him being 13-15 when he did the acts makes me want to at least let him move on with his life.

A post from Oregon St's message board in response to someone saying incorrectly that Luke would start tonight:

quote:

Of course they knew about it beforehand. And of course ER acted in accordance with OSU and DoE guidelines, and of course PC acted according to the principles he has consistently espoused. They have been acting with integrity, and it is because good men like Ed and Pat exist that redemption for boys like the 15-year-old Luke is possible.

Maybe if it was a one time thing. He did this for years.

Posted about 20 minutes before the announcement was made :

Just heard from my dad via an Athletic Department source that Luke is indeed starting tonight. So barring a last minute change of heart from Pat Casey, looks like things are about to get a little awkward. Go Beavs, I guess? Was already thinking of muting ESPN tonight anyway thanks to the Vandy whistler, I guess this clinches it.

Looks like that site has its own DALSU

How would you like to be the announcer having to walk on those eggshells throughout that broadcast?

Part of the punishment is registering as a sex offender and the ramifications that go along with that. One of those ramifications could very well be to lose the ability to play collegiate or professional sports.

How many people in this thread saying he's paid his dues would want him working for or with them? Would you hire him?

I dont think this is about learning a lesson. Stealing from the grocery is a lesson you can learn

Putting your fingers inside your 4-6 year old family member, while you are in high school, isnt really a "lesson"

So do lawmakers create a list of jobs these people are allowed to have?

I tell you what, OSU may really be fricked here publicly

I guarantee reporters are looking in to see if they knew about this, and more so, if they knew about this and let this monster teach camps.......

And god fricking forbid anything happened

No, but registering as a sex offender pretty much precludes you from getting most jobs.

Why do sex offenders have to register if not to warn others about the possible risk they lose to society?

Again, would you hire a sex offender?

Saw on an Oregon St message board that someone said they would take their kid down to the field after games to let players sign autographs and Heimlich was never present for any of those sessions
