Arrested FIFA official Jack Warner makes some pretty good points...

There's a thread on the soccer board but I thought this deserved a thread here. He thinks the arrests are part of a conspiracy and posted a video to his Facebook with evidence. He holds up an article about FIFA recently awarding an emergency World Cup to the US in 2015 and asks why the US would want a World Cup if FIFA is so corrupt? Which I think is a great point....

Wait, what? Explain. We want the world cup for the soccer tournament, prestige, and tourism, not so our politicians can wine and dine with the FIFA officials since they are such awesome, high-integrity individuals.

Qatar ranks in the top 5 in GDP per Capita but we're supposed to think it's some shithole. And I'm not talking about the onion article.

Yeah and the U.S. ranks around 12th. Although it's very warm there in Qatar, Brazil was very warm as well, even though they didn't play in the Amazon regions.
I don't know this whole thing reeks of U.S. meddling. All of the people arrested were American and now they've got a new President. Looks like the U.S. got pissed at their officials for not getting the World Cup in 2022 and are trying to make up for it and get it back.
I don't know. I don't even care. I prefer club football any day to the World Cup.

Brazil and South Africa are below the equator, our summer was their winter. May-September Rio's high doesn't break 75 degrees.

First off I know what GDP per capita is, it's quality of living.
