If either would be good enough to compete in a National title (or even BCS game). How would that work logistically since the games were announced last week?

Seems farfetched, but anything is possible. And I think navy has gone 9-3 or 10-2 in the last decade or so.

LINK

It was also brought up in this thread that if the BCS was within hundredths of a point, what if Notre Dame's computer score would be affected.

equally interesting. I can imagine them just pushing back the decision a week if Navy/Army were in the hunt - but if Notre Dame had 1-loss this year that game could make a difference

I'm surprised this hasn't been brought up before.

The final BCS standings have been so close enough enough times, it isnt farfetched at all to believe that game could affect things. Even in a round-a-bout way.

2004 Navy was 10-2

1926 Navy won the NC with a record of 9-0-1

Good Question.

Don't think it would matter since the "current" BCS rules clearly define the number of weekly polls and selection Sunday. My guess is that this is a risk that ND takes when they maintain their rivalry with Navy. This is probably similar to the risk that the other schools take when they schedule teams from Division 1A.

Interestingly enough the BCS has given Army and Navy some consideration by allowing them to nominate one individual to "represent" them on the Harris Poll.

GEAUX ARMY! SINK NAVY!

Rest assured the one time this game makes a difference the rules will be tweaked once again.
