Are college coaches allowed to pay assistants out their pocket?

For example could les miles pay cam Cameron some extra money on top his contract that he has with the university? Or would that be a violation?

I'm not sure why the NCAA would care. But since they are state employees, the assistant coach may have to disclose the extra income.

No Richt paid some support staff more a few years ago since UGA was to cheap. He got a reprimand from the NCAA for it.

Not allowed. According to bylaw 12:42b, the only time someone with the University can give someone with the football team money is if a Bama coach gives a player money.
