Ara Parseghian: Did any other "great" coach walk away so young?

Ara Parseghian is now 91 years old and no doubt has lived a long and fulfilled life.
My question: has any other coach considered among the all-time greats just completely walked away from the game at the relatively young age of 51 and never returned?
It's unreal that he was never lured into coaching again after leaving Notre Dame in 1974. I know the 80's were not the era of big coaching money, but coaching salaries were increasing from the pittance they were before then.
Ara has always been an enigma to me. He was as intense as they come and undoubtedly an all-time great college coach.
I just figured that, somewhere over the decades, he might have returned for a successful swan song, similar to Dick Vermeil.

Wasn't Wilkinson pretty young when he quit the first time?

It seems to be relatively common to answer your question

Some people make their money and want to get out of the stressful situations they are in. I don't blame them one bit.

I can't think of many hall of fame college coaches who retired that early. I think he has said that 10 years at ND will feel like 20 years with the pressure to win and travel. One thing that's different at ND is the amount of travel that their recruiters have to do since there is no in-state recruiting base. So they have to go far and wide to get guys who can play and pass admissions.

He was a head coach, between Miami, Northwestern, & the Irish, for 24 years. For someone born in an era who's life expectancy is below 60, that' a pretty good chuck of your life. His family also had significant medical issues.
