Still won't be nearly as bad as Cleveland losing the Browns and then the Ravens winning the title.

That said, there should be a Seattle SuperSonics in the NBA

if clay hadn't bought the sonics, then balmer would have bought them instead of the clippers and would have kept them in seattle in some amazon prime arena.

Seems like they are saying if the owner didn't move to OKC, Seattle would be on the brink of beating GSW and celebrating a western conference title.

That was kind of some BS. That team had a lot of history and (if I remember right) pretty decent fan support. If I were a basketball fan in Seattle, I would be pissed that a young Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook were taken away from me.
Fun, salty fact. Pearl Jam played a show in OKC a while back and Jeff Ament made a point of wearing a Sonics jersey on stage.

Seattle had great fan support for the Sonics. They were there for 40 years and won an NBA title in Seattle. The last year or two declined to like 93% capacity with a combination of people protesting giving Clay Bennett money and Clay Bennett purposely tanking the team to accelerate the rebuild for OKC. He even banned the players from promoting the Sonics in the local media and didn't allow them to do interviews.

Me and lots of other fans in this area still have not watched a full basketball teams since the Sonics were stolen.

To be fair, there are a lot of people to blame from Howard Schultz for selling to an OKC ownership group, to Clay Bennett for flat out lying to everyone in the area and destroying fan support, to the local government. But OKC is by far the most hated professional team here and the only thing most people care about is that they lose. The shared opinion is that Clay Bennett does not deserve a ring.

People don't hate the players, just the ownership. We want to root for Durant and Westbrook since Seattle drafted them, but will not do it until they leave OKC.

So yes, fans are still very salty about the situation in Seattle. They supported the team for 40 years and had a group of crooks steal the team from the city with a very well executed plan.

Btw to say it's likely that everything with this franchise would've unfolded the same way under different ownership is preposterous

Seattle has every right to be POed. Team was there for 41 years. Unreal.

Good Lord those people need help.

And I love how willing they were to steal the Kings away from Sacramento.

Hard to know what it's like unless you've had a team leave your city as well

Hey, they can be mad at the Starbucks guy and the city council. But clay Bennett did what was best for the franchise.

Sure. But let's not pretend that if the exact same circumstances happened and the Saints move that LA residents wouldn't be salty too. It's easy to say when it isn't your team or city

I went to a Mariners baseball game a few years back and it was Seattle Supersonics reunion night. Was neat to see all those guys show up for a reunion and pimping hard for the Supersonics to return. I assumed they would get Sonics back soon after that. I don't know the politics involved.

Oh no doubt. It's just funny becuase my buddy has been texting me through all of the WCF with some very salty chatter.

I would be bitter as hell if the Saints moved to San Antonio or LA.
