Anyone else not enamored with the 3-point era in the NBA?

I'm finding myself turned off by the focus on the long ball. It feels odd to call it cheap and skill-less, because in reality it is just so much more efficient, but I find that it is similar to get a get out of jail free card.
3 point basketball is less scientific, to me. A team can run a beautifully designed play for a cut to the basket, or a big can display his agility, strength, and dexterity on a nice post up, or a gifted two-guard can dissect a defender and hit a nice J.... but all three beautiful plays lose to a Terrence Ross call-of-duty-camper-level three pointer.
Today with all of the on-ball screening you don't even have to be a good one on one player to get open shots.

You should probably figure out how you're going to fix the Knicks, Phil

Oh shite, Kurt rambis has a TD account

If you want to see poor shooting just watch college ball.
Kidding, but I think what you're looking for is more the Spurs style, which is a more technical breakdown of creating open shots. Some people like to call this strategy "boring"

The 3 masks the terrible post game the nba has had for a while now. The 3 point craze is the only thing that is saving the nba from looking like cbb

No one cares about your opinion OldSchoolAlpha.

No one has called the spurs boring in like over 6 or 7 years

You don't have to like the Warriors style of play

Should that shot really be worth 1.5 times more than a 20 footer? It's out of whack with the difficulty. I'm getting sick of teams just chucking them constantly too.

Never thought the NBA would go all college.
That's what ruined the college game...40 minutes of jacking up 3s.
Wow, how strategic and interesting to watch. It's like waiting in the wings at your local gym for a pick-up game watching weekend warriors jack up everything.
I wouldn't mind dumping the 3 and getting back to the paint.
You can still be like Jerry West and shoot 25 foot jumpers but it's only going to be 2 points Steph.

Be careful what you wish for. You really want 8 dudes in the paint jockeying for position every possession? I'd rather watch Bob Ross painting trees.

The 4/5 positions and post play are an absolute joke due to injuries(Yao, Oden, Bynum, Amare etc), bust(Darko, Beasley, Thabeet etc), and lack of development in college(one and done) and in the pros(historic coaching turnover)
I don't blame coaches they are just reacting to weakend NBA

Yeah this whole "improving necessary skills" shite is weak. I live for the days when MJ could shove Byron Russell halfway to Provo without anyone batting an eyelash

Don't drag the Raptors in to this. Their offense is a mess largely because they try to run a ton of set stuff instead of basic stuff with a lot of actions off of it.

You literally had to beat one person in the past to get an open shot.

Right? I can't believe people don't get this.

You listed like two guys that were back to the basket scorers and like one that maybe had the potential to be one...

Or the game has just changed. The skill set required to be THE go to guy in an offense in the post is massive nowadays. There is too much talent at other positions.

Constantly amazed by how the idea of help defense just goes over people's heads on here.

don't argue with verlander about this b/c he's completely ignorant about basketball
