I'll take Lebron, since you know we have stats out there that show he makes a higher percentage of his shots than Kobe does in "clutch" situations like this.

A good chunk of Kobe's all-defensive awards are reputation based. HIs all-defense awards, with 2nd team in italics, and the corresponding Lakers defensive on/off rating, with a positive number being a bad thing for his defense.

2000
2001 -3.3
2002 +8.9
2003 -1.0
2004 +0.7
2006 +6.4
2007 -1.0
2008 -0.8
2009 +1.5
2010 -3.4
2011 +4.4
2012 -2.9

5 of the 11 years with data show the defense was better when he was on the bench.

Obviously doesn't read career statlines nor acknowledge that LeBron shoots better fg and 3 pt pct nor acknowledge that LeBron won more NBA MVPs but that's their delusionary perception.

Why can't all world LeBron crack 80% from the three point line

Like foreal stasticly Denver gives LeBron the most troubles of any NBA team his career. Is it a coincidence that is where Kobe committed his rape? I think not

Without looking it up, I would imagine that Kobe shoots more from 3 per game for his career. Kobe shot a lot more tough/bad shots than LeBron.

It's logical Kobe had to shoot more jumpers- he's had good offensive bigs clogging the lane almost every year & he needed to space the floor a lot of times. He never had a big time all star shooter like Lebron had with Kyrie. Bosh & Love are bigs that shoot a high % jumper, & altered their game from go-to post guy 24+ PPG, to floor spacing. Bosh's high elbow jumper was cash

Gasol in '01-end of his Lakers area was strictly a low post player. He didn't develop his deep ball until he got older. Lebron has never had an offensive juggarnaut post player, so naturally the lanes are more open for him to take higher % shots.

It's not a knock on either of them. Personnel & schematics dictated the types of shot each needed to fulfill their role on the team. Kobe's SF's were not lights out shooters for the most part either. Fox was probably his best one. Odom & Metta weren't high % deep shooters, so the burden fell on Kobe.

Both players played their hand the right way to maximize the personnel's strengths

There's a reason why all objective stats have LeBron significantly ahead of Kobe.

That's why you have to resort to things like "killer instinct", "grit", and ignoring Shaq driving the Lakers to three rings to make any argument Kobe is better. Kobe is top 20 all time, but he isn't better than LeBron.

Man,
For one I don’t give a shite about ranking player
For second, I love Kobe. The man is a genius. I can’t say that about another damn player in the nba right now

True...but both paper Tigers.

Wish they had the balls of Jordan or Bird. Cut a team's throat out...talk shite all day and attack and dive for balls and elbow people for a simple rebound.

Work for everything to win...everything to win. Not be prima donnas and back away from a challenge.

Like Lebron against the Celtics and Kobe against Celtics.

I'm not a full blown retard and I think as an overall player LeBron is better, however, if LeBron was done right now, Kobe's career has been better. 5 rings, 1 finals loss. Won with Shaq and without. Lebron has one title comparable to any of Kobes and that's the Cleveland one. Kobe has more points, was a better man defender, better perimeter shooter and a killer in clutch time. It's a much closer argument than the media, and fans, want to believe it is. Kobe was a monster that people just don't give the respect he deserves.

Also as hard as it is to believe, it may be that Kobe is actually a better teammate. Who would've think it.

i don't think the stats agree with either of these

reminds me of an argument i once got in with a guy at the poker table, when he said kobe was a better outside shooter and when i showed their respective 3P%, he still said kobe >

Purely Basketball wise there is absolutely no argument and hasnt been since at least 2012

You can definitely argue Kobe had a more fun and more memorable career though

Kobe isn’t better than LeBron, but I feel Kobe is completely underrated and unappreciated at this point.

People only seem to remember him when he was old and people would joke about him not passing the ball.

In his prime he was a stone cold killer.
