Anybody else think Greg Popovich is a giant pussy for running the hack-a-Shaq?

Even Tim Duncan is embarrassed about it. They said last night Duncan apologized every time to Jordan, telling him that they were just following orders.

And isn't Popovich basically admitting when he does it that his team isn't as good as the other team?

I think Popovich has a huge ego about it, and I don't think he's even right.

No, he's doing what is allowed.

I think there should be something to prevent it though. Add an extra FT or something. shite is out of control.

Taking advantage of an opponent's weakness isn't being a pussy or admitting that your own team isn't as good.

Nope. It's a 100% legitimate tactic. The reason for the hactic is shitty free throw shooters. Become a better free throw shooter and it won't happen.

No, I think Deandre Jordan sucks for being a 45% FT shooter.

Nah, he's admitting that he's willing to take advantage of any rule or loophole if it gives his team an advantage. If the NBA changes the rule, he'll comply.

I'm a rockets fan, so I hate it with a passion, but I don't condemn those who use it.

I don't want to hear you bitches complain about Harden "slowing down the game" anymore.

You play to win the game

I think it's funny that Pop is one of the only coaches with a long enough leash to consistently do it

Isn't this a form of pitching around a good hitter? Use the rules to favor your situation.

It's like the patriots and the eligible linemen. It's within the rules. DWI.

I'm not a spurs or pats fan, but you play to win the game.

I question the effectiveness of it. If the guy makes 50%, that's a point per possession or an Offensive Rating of 100, which is about average. Another issue with it is that it reduces your own opportunities at easy baskets on the break.

This is the biggest reason I am not a Spurs fan. I haven't pulled for them since he ordered that shite against Shaq.

Well yeah. It undoubtedly violates the spirit of the game and stifles the competitive nature of the players. Even if you're a Spurs fan that can't be enjoyable basketball watching it.

But it's not against the rules, and winning is the only thing that matters ultimately. It's not Pop's fault the rules permit it.

Jeff Van Gundy had an interesting idea to stop intentional fouls. He wants free throws to count for two points which means a player would get one free throw every time they go to the line.
