I don't watch UFC, and I only saw highlights, but it looked like Silva wanted to lose the fight.

This is just an outsider's view. Again, I don't watch the sport, and I don't know much about it.

I'm a casual fan myself, but I follow the sport enough to know that was not a focused Anderson Silva.

I'm a normal human being with normal observational powers, and I can emphatically state that there is no faking getting knocked the frick out.

And Silva got the knocked the frick out.

I don't watch it anything like I used to. At one point I really was into it and knew what I was talking about. I'll say this, Silva got caught. It is unfair to the guy that beat him to say Silva gave it away. Anderson did a lot of BS and he deserved just what he got.

I don't watch UFC or Silva. I do know you have a good chance of losing with your hands by your side though

Of course, but I'm just saying that it looked like Silva was trying to get knocked out or defeated.

I know it sounds ridiculous, but it was the feeling I got.

It's unfair anyways. I felt bad for the Weidman (sp?) guy. It looked like a dad letting his kid win.

I don't know anything about Silva or this Weidman guy. My observation is just that of an outsider's. Take it fwiw.

It does sound ridiculous.

If he was trying to get defeated, he could have done it a number of ways other than getting knocked semi-conscious.

Yeah, I'm an outsider as well but for some reason decided to watch last night's match (it was about the third UFC fight I've ever watched). I assume Silva is cocky in most of his fights but I agree that something just seemed off about that fight and the post-fight interview and now it really seems odd considering the linked interview.

But I am not a close fan so I could be way off.

Agreed, just saying judging from the interview and the fight it looks like Silva didn't care.

I also have no knowledge of the sport, but I did read an article that was talking about how Silva toys with his opponents and trys to force them into reach punches even sometimes letting them slightly connect then countering.

I guess this time he just played the wrong guy.

I completely agree. Like I said, I don't know anything about either fighter. All I knew was that Silva was a big name, and I had never heard of the other guy. So, my thought process was that Silva wanted to lose the fight or it was the dumbest fighting strategy of all time. And, because I knew Silva was supposed to be a badass, I had a hard time believing he would fight in such a foolish manner.

I'm assuming this.

From what I gather that is how he has always fought.

I think someone said this last night. This explains a lot. Very foolish. But, he can do what he wants. Makes for good speculation.

Silva has won a ton of fights by baiting his opponent. The more of a ground guy the opponent is, the worse AS usually does this. Apparently he took it to the extreme last night and homeboy caught him flush on the button. The punch before the KO punch was a weird back fist that grazed Anderson and I really think he wasn't expecting the KO punch to be coming right behind it. JMO

Ali used the "lean-back counter right" as an effective offensive tactic.

I think the punch before the KO punch isn't being given enough credit.
