My sister graduated from Allen last year and the graduation ceremony had to be moved to North Texas to accommodate the graduates and attendees. They also have a pretty successful football team and active student base.

I'm an alum of Allen High School. I graduated in 2000.

Honestly, it's a totally different area than when I left. I think 4,000 to 5,000 kids go there. It's like a college campus.

But the city isn't going to get any bigger because there's no more land to really build anything on. The whole idea was to keep one large high school to win state. They won state a few years ago about the time part of the school base went to a new high school in nearby Lucas.

I don't imagine them really ever breaking off into two schools.

I saw the stadium a few months ago when they were finishing construction. It's pretty legit.

But I think $60 million for a high school is excessive. Just my opinion.

Yeah, isn't Highland Park one of, if not the richest neighborhood in the country?

Yes, HP is absolutely ridiculous when it comes to buying a home there. Way, way, way overpriced.

For instance, in December 2010 the average price of a home on the market in Highland Park was $1,202,369,[8] a $958,088 higher price tag than East Dallas's average of $244,281.

West Monroe played Evangel at Independence Stadium in a regular season game in 2001. There were 34,000 at that game. My last game in the Dome had 40K. Louisiana has some teams with big fan numbers.

97 or 98?

biggest ever for single prep game was ST.AUg and the Jays in 78. .bout 44k

Watching a 17 year old play high school football is weird but watching that same kid the next year play college football next year is the greatest thing in the world?

So I take it you haven't been to small towns in texas?

Not just Texas, lots of schools in La. have fans with no kids on the team that buy season tickets and travel. Friday night is basically a community gathering at the football field in places like Lutcher, Hahnville, West St.John, St. James, and teams in the Acadiana area......and don't forget West Monroe.

I passed by the field about two weeks ago and schools like SMU could use the field and it would be an upgrade from their current field

No it wouldn't. SMU has a new stadium built within the last 5 years that is really nice. Small (35,000), but nice.

What's funny is most of these kids that go to play in college are going to deal with a downgrade in facilities

One of the 5 best games I have ever seen.. and I see about 15-17 a year in person.... and.... another 20-25 on film... every year...

late fumble hurt shaw... i think that was the only time that kid fumbled in 2 years as a starter....

Allen will pack that stadium every game. They are very good about supporting the school. The band is huge.

Their football teams tend to choke in the playoffs so maybe this will help.

Unless your kid is on the team, who the frick buys season tickets to a HS game?

I wouldnt but the same can be said about 60 year old men buying tickets to watch 20 year old college boys.

NFL are the only tickets I would buy.
