Holding out because of 2 very standard clauses in the contract that the Chargers insist on. The salaries are slotted so its not even about money.

I guess his agent is using him to bust the clauses for good.

The chargers are being super cheap , they want to spread the signing bonus out over 18 months instead of 6 months. Owners print money and still pull crap like this

They want an offset if he's waived before his contract is over and signed by another team (they would owe him less money), and they want to spread the bonus payments over a longer period of time.

Both are common, although the spread of bonus payments is less common. The Chargers insist on it though.

one party says 6, the other says 18.

compromise at 12 and move the frick on, especially if it is guaranteed money.

Bosa has entitled douche written all over him.

Bosa is forced to play for the team that drafts him, and forced to sign a contract that is pre determined by the league, and when he tries to bargain the one part of the contract that he can, it makes him selfish

Already said bosa is going to be a huge bust. People keep comparing him to watt over and over, while buckner had always been the better player

Based on my exhaustive research (2 internet articles), "[s]ince the slotting system went into effect in 2012 (five drafts), every third overall pick has signed a contract in which either the offset was removed or their signing bonus was paid in full by the end of their rookie season, as Bosa is requesting."

Sounds like he trying to get what ever other third overall pick has gotten. Yet he's an entitled douche.

I mean, Bosa offered a compromise, he'd be ok to go 18 if the Chargers gave him concession in return, but they won't.

From everything I've read, this is on the Chargers, not Bosa.

Yeah, the more I read about it the more it seems like the Chargers are being unreasonable. My bad.

What happens if Bosa says "frick it, I'm not playing for the Chargers"?

ETA: Not saying that will happen. Just asking a hypothetical.
