51 seconds left, you're down 10 at the 10 yard line with no timeouts

do you kick the field goal or keep going for the touchdown?

I say kick the field goal bc you want to get one score you need out the way and still have time after the onside kick

I remember TCU being in this exact situation vs. Texas Tech a few weeks ago and they went for it on 4th down instead of kicking the field goal.

You kick the FG IMO.

Score the touchdown. If you kick the field goal, you are throwing away all of the time and yards it took to get there. It's tough to march down the field. Much easier to get in field goal position.

You go for the touchdown.

You are only 10 yards away. There is no guarantee you will be able to get down that deep after the onside kick, plus think about all the time you blew to get to that spot. You are going to kick the FG and then have to march all the way down to the endzone again? That would be stupid.

Score the touchdown.

Kick the onside kick and then you only have to go 20-30 yards to kick the field goal instead of having to throw deep passes and get it into the end zone.

Gota go for the touchdown if it's a second down. That gives you two shots to the endzone.. runs off maybe 10 seconds.

It's easier to score from the 10 and then try to get an onside kick and get a few yards to get in field goal range than it is to just kick a field goal and then have to get an onside and drive down the field for a TD

Only go for the FG if it's 4th down

I would be going for it on 4th down from the 10.

What are the chances of getting that field position again? Very slim.

You are going to have to score a touchdown no matter what.

Might as well go for it when you are only 10 yards out instead of throwing hail marys after the onside kick and praying for a miracle.

TD easy.. If you get the onside you won't need to get to the ten again to get the three . Trying to get the TD from the ten may be your best opportunity to get that TD you also need

this situation came up in the Chalmette/Belle Chasse game and our QB made a dash for the end zone on a QB draw, but was judged to have fumbled when he got in (PA Announcer: TOUCHDOWN!!!... shite, yes he really said that- fumble on the play...) , and Belle Chasse recovered

when you get to that point in the game, you want plays and time more than anything with no timeouts. you're gonna have to onside anyway, might as well have as much time as possible...

At the 10, touchdown. Because you can get in field goal range at the 25-30, so that's 25-30 yards you'll need if you successfully recover the onsides

If you don't go for the touchdown when you are that deep in their territory, all you are doing is making it harder on yourself to score a touchdown. You will now have to go FURTHER to score, and have less time.

Kicking the field goal makes you feel better because you feel like that drive was successful and you still have a *chance* to win with time on the clock.

Whereas if you go for it and don't make it, you know the game is over even though there is still a minute on the clock, and there is nothing you can do about it. You can see that error more. It's in plain sight.

But going for it gives your team the best chance to win.
