5 worst Power Five Conference Teams: Week 6

1. Illinois (1-4): Moved them to the top after losing at home to a bad Purdue team. They are a darkhorse for the title now.
2. Kansas (1-4): Bumped them down a spot after losing a game at home they should have won against TCU.
3. Rutgers (2-4): After playing Iowa tough, they have now been outscored 136-0 in their last 2 games. Woof.
4. Iowa State (1-5): Had a 10 point 4th quarter lead against Oklahoma State and lost. Also played Baylor well last week.
5. Syracuse (2-4): Only wins on the season are over Colgate and UConn
MOVED OUT OF THE TOP 5: Oregon State
ALSO UNDER CONSIDERATION: Notre Dame, Arizona, Oregon, Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Missouri, Boston College, Michigan State

I'm now convinced that Rutgers is the worst power 5 team.

They've had a bad couple of weeks, but they've played two really good teams in back to back weeks. Let's wait and see.

Rutgers hosts Illinois next week. They get a shot to earn it on the field.

The Illinois-Rutgers game next weekend will be a dandy.

Not sure how you can't put Miss. State on this list??? They are horrible. Like, Croom Era horrible.

I agree. They should be under consideration.

True. They are back in 2003-2004 form. I still think they would wax the top 5 teams on this list.

I wonder if we can turn this into a tiger droppings poll each week. I would get a strange enjoyment voting for this.

Play a modified ACC schedule
Lost to Duke at home
Only power 5 win is over Syracuse, my #5 team in this poll.

What about a power 5 team who has given up 47, 50, 49, and 45 points respectively against all of their power 5 opponents?

Rice is a perennial favorite, and I love the fact they rank #119 in offense and #123 in defense. However, they have been on an discouraging upward trajectory in recent weeks. If they don't focus, they'll slip up and win a game.
UMass had some early season struggles, almost stumbling into a win in the Swamp. But they started to find their mid-season form against Old Dominion. Their inept running game bodes well for November in Amherst.
Miami has a huge game against Kent State next week. If they can pull off the loss there, the schedule is full of L's the rest of the way.
Charlotte is currently in a dogfight with Florida Atlantic. Wish I could be there right now. I don't know why FAU rescheduled the game when they both could have avoided the W.
San Jose State had a strong 17 point loss against Hawaii. But I have too many questions about them. Their offense keeps ruining the lack of effort from their sieve-like defense. They put up 66 on Portland State, and their coach has a hot wife.
Nov. 19: Mark that date on your calendar. We'll find out if UTEP is for real when they take on Rice.

If Charlotte can hold on they'll get their 2nd FBS win. They actually won their first game as an FBS member last season, against Georgia State of the Sun Belt.

That should be a relegation game. Same for Kansas-Iowa State.

I actually watched the UTEP-NMSU game. The Miners' 16 point victory doesn't do them justice as they dominated the Aggies. Since then, they've been fricking awful, though I haven't watched another game.

I'm pretty sure NMSU is one of the worst all time Division 1 programs. I don't think they have been to a bowl game since the 60's. They are just a little competitive this year to make the list though. They've beaten 2 FBS teams and hung around with Kentucky for 3 quarters.
