I went 2-1 on the day. Lost Seppi. Won Vesely and Monaco. Up just a smidgeon. Hoping for better tomorrow. More on that later.

That does suck. Which matches did you get to see last year?

I considered it more of a Gulbis fade than a bet on Seppi. But freaking Ernie is tricky like that.

Albert Ramos is my biggest play of the day. May also go in on Isner and Simon.

Say what you will about laying huge chalk -- and I'm trying to generally approach such plays with caution as I'd like to cash out with my guy after RG, and don't want the fluctuation -- but I think Raonic -1200 is the right side. Only way he loses that match is if he gets a freak injury.

ETA: I actually meant to bet on Simona Halep but then just forgot. Oh well.

Murray down two sets to one to some player I've never heard of. I feel like in the back of his mind, he wants to tank and be fresh for Wimbledon or something.

and of course murray breaks him in the 4th and will likely get another to finish off the set.

and then he'll get up another double break in the 5th to win.

Pouille loss hurt today that fricker. Losing to a ll in straights like wtf.

I did hit on Chardy, Kuznetsova, Safarova, Kvitova, Stosur, ARad.

Kvitova,

You should consider betting the over in every match she plays. fricking girl could be playing Corky from Life Goes On and she'd still only win after fighting off a match point at 4-5 30-40 in the third.

I don't tend to play the fillies, but if I did, I think I would go that route as an autoplay.

What's weird is that I don't think that's the case. He put in way too much work this clay season -- e.g. going to Mallorca between Masters to train with Rafa and Raonic -- to be doing something other than trying to win the thing. And with that said, I don't have an explanation for his play. Enigmatic even by his vexing standards.

But still not as off as Cilic losing to a guy who has never won a professional title on any level. No challengers. No futures. Nada. Peak ranking of 166. Just doesn't compute. Doesn't he make too much money to fix matches?

What are y'all on for tomorrow?

I'm thinking of trying some Granollers on for size. Maybe a little Ferrer as well.

What's your thoughts on Sousa-Gulbis? It's so damn hard to trust Gulbis but on paper I like him here.

I stayed away. Gulbis is an enigma. He's not as bad as Alex Dolgopolov, mind you, but he's certainly a smidgeon erratic. I'm actually a big fan of the guy; his unrestrained candor in interviews is refreshing and oftentimes really funny.

The ferrer line moved to -275. I don't get that. Somebody may know something I don't, but I'm going in anyway.

Because, as a general rule, when you've got two likely juiced up little fellas playing against each other in a tennis match and they play similar styles but one of the guys is better at playing that particular style than the other, I go with the guy who is better.

I watched maybe five minutes of replay coverage last night, but I thought it was cool that Mary Carillo was reporting the in-game betting lines on Murray while he was losing. I haven't been able to get into the tournament yet and am just looking forward to having these garbage early matches out of the way and seeing things spice up over the weekend. I probably need to start betting like you guys. Anyway, Nadal v Thiem on Memorial Day would =
