Sources: Suns have legitimately closed the gap in pursuit of LaMarcus Aldridge. Tyson Chandler, perimeter talent. They're a real factor.

How does this deal specifically push them back? Acquiring future picks doesn't mean you won't try to win before then. It means they if you try to win and succeed you have good picks and all you gave up was second rounders and took on some irrelevant salary.

Looks like the pick swaps are 2016 + 2017.

Very interesting.

76ers should be able to try to win games and still get a great pick these next two years. I could see Sac being truly awful.

Pretty fantastic, but I was kinda hoping the swap would be in the future a bit. 2016 the teams could be pretty close in terms of talent. 2017 the swap could be HUGE.

Hinkie got an absolute steal in this trade. I don't know what makes you think this is a bad trade for them.

He's just recycling the rhetoric. Everyone shits on Hinkie saying he's conning the fans and pushing the expectation of winning back for job security, but there hasn't been one move that he's made that hasn't made sense.

If Ben Simmons is as good as advertised, winning the lotto and getting him with those 3 bigs and you've got a really exciting young core of guys that would be impossible for most teams to guard

Welp, they or the Kings would have to win the lotto. I don't think either of them will have a worse record than maybe the Knicks or Nuggets(once they trade their good players). But...if...holy cow. odds still against them though

Big men with foot problems don't do well in the nba. Chances are at this point he becomes an ok player to a bust are much higher than the chances he becomes a HOF/multiple all star.

Arron Afflalo will sign a two year deal with the Knicks. His option on the second year. $16 million total.

Didn't he opt out of $7.5-$8.5? Then he turns around and signs essentially a 1 year deal for the same amount? I get that Portland looks like a sinking ship, but you're doing it wrong Aaron.

I always am also. It doesn't help that I know a majority of the player on each squad so that makes it easier

Though I like Embiid and wish there was a really good way to keep all three bigs, but we need a good lead guard.

As for next year's picks, our pick should be a lottery pick. It's looking like LA's will also be a lottery pick. IIRC the other two belong to Miami and OKC, I don't know the protections on them,

Miami
2016 top 10 protected
2017 unprotected

OKC
2016 top 15 protected
2017 top 15 protected
if Oklahoma City has not conveyed a 1st round pick to Philadelphia by 2017, then Oklahoma City will instead convey its 2018 2nd round pick and 2019 2nd round pick to Philadelphia

I don't get that.. how does acquiring Tyson Chandler now make the Suns a real contender for LMA?

So they will get Miami's pick in 2016 and likely won't see the Thunder's first rounder ever, unless the injury bugs hit these two again

I really don't get that either. Brandon Knight and Tyson Chandler (assuming Bledsoe is dealt) or Parker, Green, Leonard and Duncan? Seems pretty simple to me

It probably doesn't. It's just LA's camp trying to leverage more money. People will believe anything agents put out there.
