76ers played this thing as well as anyone i've ever seen. The Bynum trade killed that team. They were going to be bad for years. They decided to be awful.
3 straight drafts of landing a player who was thought of as the top player of that draft at some point. The 8th and 12th pick in a draft considered super deep. The Lakers pick next year(as well as Miami and OKC, which won't be great picks obviously but they could be packaged)
Hinkie is kicking arse. He had a long term plan and stuck with it. Going to be an exciting team going forward if all the guys can stay healthy(Embiid)

I hope like hell the pick swaps are a real thing. Conflicting reports. But if so....goddamn.

Because he got Sauce Castillo?

And people laugh about the multiple 2nd round picks thing, but the 2nd round picks is what made this deal possible. They traded a stashed 2nd round pick and had all the cap space because of not having to pay 2nd round picks. Hinkie is playing chess.

And the Kings are playing connect 4

No. But that's not a bad pickup at all. Buying low.
He's kicking arse because of the rest of that post.

Well it also helps that Sixers have really hit on some of these 2nd round picks too

I'm told the foreign players Philly sent to Sacramento are Arturas Gudaitis and Luka Mitrovic, drafted #47 + #60 last wk. 2ND-ROUNDERS, MAN.

It's like he's playing 2k and overrides the rejected trades.

I'm still not really seeing why Hinkie is a genius. The picks are cool but anything after like the 7th pick and they're usually shite sandwiches.

It's trade rape.
Sixers are sending an overseas guy that IS NOT Saric
They're getting dead salary. Stauskas, a top 10 protected 1st, and (possibly) two pick swaps that will go into effect after Philly starts trying to win again. It's a pretty damn great trade.
It's a retarded trade by the Kings but I'm speaking solely of the "omg Staukas is coming to hit ten threes a game" type tweets.

Yeah but this is like the definition of trade rape.

Oh I hadn't seen those. In a vacuum, if they'd just gotten Stauskas in a salary dump, that would've been nice enough. There are thoughts that he will do a lot better in a different environment for obvious reasons. I'm certainly not the biggest Sauce fan in the world, but he has potential. But if you throw in that Philly gave NOTHING up and nabbed at least one 1st rounder that will be a very good pick.
If the pick swaps are true, then this is one of the most lopsided trades i've ever heard of.

Yeah I mean they definitely won the trade by a large margin but dealing with the Kings is like going into a nursing home with a Nigerian prince money laundering scheme. It doesn't really count.
The Kings owe Chicago their first round pick, top-10 protected over the next two seasons. If the Kings stay in the top 10 over the next couple of years, the earliest the 76ers will get that pick from them is in 2019.

It's about asset collection. That 1st rounder is of serious value because the Kings are awful. It can be traded or held as a value that you don't have to pay. All they had to do is absorb stupid contracts
And yes, the Kings are dumb, but no other team put themselves in a position to take advantage of their ineptitude.

Man if Sacramento strikes out on the FAs they're after, they just burned this team to the ground.
Their fans seem to think they can hit the reset button at worst by trading Cousins but if the pick swaps are true...JFC

I actually like this trade for Sac. Its really hard to just dump that amount of money.
Problem is the players they are trying to bring in with the space they opened up...

They're going after Rondo
Plus it seems like Karl is going to get fired and they won't bring in a good coach with the complete lack of job security. And I guarantee Boogie will not be there in 2 years. Sacramento should've just let the team movie to Seattle. Goddamn.

No other team has to fight its way just to hit the salary floor. Everyone else is at least pretending to try to win. Hinkie wasn't smarter than every other GM, he was just the only one who could do it.

The Kings are terrible but that also kind of works against the 76ers here. How much value does a 2019 first round pick have? 4 years is an eternity in sports. I'm not saying it's not a good deal for the Sixers but damn man... calm down.

And the players now have so much leverage

The Lakers just proved that all the cap space in the world doesn't matter if you're franchise is a dumpster fire. And that's in LA. No one of note is coming to Sactown and deal with all that garbage. They can get money elsewhere.
