The Cincinnati Reds are trading everybody.

Not if the Braves do it first.

You can have them for the right price.

Rumor that Red Sox are actively pursuing Aroldis Chapman.

Where do yall think Heyward ends up? I think he wants to stay in STL but we aren't gonna come up with the money he can get elsewhere. This is a pretty lame prediction but I say he ends up in pinstripes

Anywhere but St. Louis or Chicago. Could see him in LA.

Maybe the Angels. I could see them landing Heyward or Gordon.
They will have an amazing defense. Simmons, Trout, Calhoun. Would be the best outfield defense (only Boston would be in the stratosphere) and have the best defender in baseball.

It's a depressing time for Reds fans.

Yes it is. I am going to cry when we lose Chapman. I still remember his first game with us. Who do you think we trade besides Chapman?

at least one of you gets it (i don't know the guy from adam so i have no idea what his wants are). From Keith Law's chat yesterday.
quote:
Pat: Lot of angst about giving up Shelby Miller for Heyward, but what people don’t understand is that Heyward now understands what is means to play for the Cardinals. That has to go a long way in getting a hometown discount. Can you see the Cards getting him and a front line starter like Price if both take a little less to win?
Klaw: Hometown discounts don’t exist, and also, it’s not his hometown – Atlanta is, more or less. And by the way, players can get full freight and still go to a winner. It’s not like Heyward would sign with, say, Boston or the Yankees and never sniff the playoffs again.

Jay bruce...and anyone else not named votto who has any value (or at least you should)

Phillips will be tough to trade. He has a no trade clause. A part of me wants to trade Frazier because his value won't be higher but I like Frazier a lot and don't want to see him go.

Well I don't really know what he wants either but all his quotes indicate that he really likes being in STL (of course he could've just been saying the right things). Rumors that he was looking at houses in the STL area but who the hell knows, even if that's true it doesn't mean anything, Law is right there is no such thing as a hometown discount and the vast majority of these guys follow the $$$ so I don't expect JHey to be any different and nor do I blame him

The Cardinals win all the time. They have a major, major sponsor in Anheuser-Busch. Why wouldn't they pay Heyward?

If you see the cubs trade soler for pitching soon, then i expect them to be heavily in for jason heyward.
Admittedly, i see that only slightly more possible than him ending up in St. Louis.

I thought I heard St Louis will get one of those big TV deals soon. They will have the money eventually (but not necessarily for now).
Also, I would not want to sign Heyward. He is an above average offense player, but a lot of his value is predicated on his defense. Defense ages quicker than hitting skills even if he is getting his contract at only age 26. Just not worth a 10 year, $200 million contract. I would rather invest in a bat with more pop. His walk rate is creeping downwards as well.

For whatever reason historically we just don't spend a bunch of money on free agents, we did just sign a new big tv deal so maybe that will change but Ima wait and see if it does before I change my stance
