Both teams went 67-15 in the regular season.

Celtics went 40-1 at home.
Warriors went 39-2 at home.

7 game series.

Who wins?

I've got the 86 Celtics in 6.

Robert Parish
Kevin McHale
Larry Bird
Danny Ainge
Dennis Johnson

Oh, and Bill Walton and Rick Carlile on the bench.

It wouldn't be close. GS may win one game in a 7 game series.

The Warriors would dominate.

They didn't play defense in the 80's, and they didn't shoot 3's like teams do today.

The Celtics would be shocked at the Warriors three point shooting, but the Warriors would be just as shocked at the Celtics post play. McHale would put on a clinic.

The celtics. Bird would average 35 a game.

The Celtics had an offensive rating of 111.8... in 1986... aka the era of no defense.

The Warriors have an offensive rating of 111.6... in 2015.

Gee... I wonder which offense is better?

Defensive rating: Celtics: 102.6 Warriors: 101.4

I'm not one to romanticize the past teams but the celtics front court would completely shite all over Bogut/Lee/Green. Yes I understand the difference in eras too so spare me.

Warriors have the best defense in the NBA, largely because of Bogut. He's one of the best rim protectors in the game.

And 4's didn't generally shoot the 3 back then. McHale would be a little out of his element having to guard Green on the perimeter.

I was thinking about this and was watching some of the '84 Celtics-Lakers Finals just for the comparison. Both teams were flying up and down the court. It was really surprising how fast they BOTH were. Bird was really fast even and could really run the floor.

Ehh he'd have a hard time matching up all game underneath. The celtics would own the boards too. I love these hypotheticals.

People forget that the Celtics could run. They did not run like the Lakers, but their hafl court game was better. But, they could still get in transition.

By 87 and 88 they started getting injuries and slowing down, but the 86 team was almost perfect.
