denver's DBs were just sitting back in awe of flacco on that play. flacco caused them to go full retard with those eyebrows

You're right. I assume you know more than all of the NFL analysts and the GM/Owner that are willing to pay him the money. I am sure you have gained a much better understanding of the game and how the position should be played by sitting on your couch watching 12 hours of football every Sunday while eating hot wings.

Also, I never said it is the greatest stat in the world. But it is discussed. That is a fact. Pitchers, like QBs, are the hero when the team is winning and the goat when the team is losing. Thats how it is.
No this is what ESPN/sportswriters make it out to be. Just bc espn says that flacco was the reason they won or lost doesn't make it true.
If Flacco was so clearly this elite qb, there wouldn't be this giant debate surrounding him. Listen to any media outlet in the world right now and you will get 2 different views of what he is worth.

So you're saying that there are no immeasureables and that Flacco has not proven that he can lead his team to victory?
I'm done here. Work beckons.

which is why i argue they should invest in a cheap/young QB option to be the next flacco and deal flacco to a team for draft picks.
This is the NFL we're talking about, where teams consistently punt on 4th and inches; no way they make such a radical move.
Whether or not Flacco deserves it, if his agent is worth a shite he'll get paid big time.

Flacco has proven that he can convince rahim moore to make a terrible play.

as a saints fan, it was difficult to swallow the brees contract. and that's DREW BREES

i'm sure there is something that doesn't show up on the stat sheet, but that doesn't excuse why he's so mediocre over the larger sample. seriously why did he just frick off for 16 games? i'm sure there is an immeasurable stat in that, too

Kap outplayed Flacco last night. His passes were pretty accurate but dropped whereas Flacco's passes were more inaccurate but caught.
And I really don't care about either.

Your arguments are so compelling.

guessing what both do next year is pretty interesting, but that's a thread for 6 months from now

can you answer why he was so mediocre for 16 games?

This isn't anywhere near being true.
Kaepernick played fantastic and is going to be a great QB. He has a frickin cannon for an arm. But that assessment is just inaccurate.

You said he fricked off for 16 games, implying that he played poorly in 16 games in your opinion. That is not true.

if he's a top 5 QB he played poorly to be rated about 10 spots below that ranking over the season
my comment was an obvious joke, but the point remains: why was a top 5 QB so mediocre over the larger sample size?

I guess it depends on what stat(s) you use to measure consistency.
Doesn't it always?

Sure, wins are team wins, but without a QB, even the best of teams can't win. Other positions are more replaceable.
I understand where you're coming from. His teams do win and at the end of the day that is what matters. He certainly has become the focal point of the Ravens offense, and the Ravens have fashioned themselves into an offensive team. It's hard to argue with the W/Ls taking that into consideration.
BUT we've all also seen those games where Flacco can't hit a deep ball and plays absolutely dreadfully. He's got so many playoff wins and only one ring because the Ravens always seem to just slide into the playoffs, many times thanks to a few putrid games on Flacco. He's boom or bust.
It could be argued that the vertical passing game the Ravens ask of Flacco plays a role, but we've seen him inaccurate on the shorter throws numerous times as well. He has the tools to be elite, but he still has too many bad games sprinkled in with the good.
It's an interesting discussion though.

So do you think that his talent level is closer to how he played in the playoffs or how he played in the regular season?

disagree... he had the bad INT, and at least part of the failure on the goaline rests on his shoulders, IMO. He should've gotten the 2nd down play off and not cost SF a timeout. He definitely played tight early, but found his groove in the 3rd.
Kap still needs to learn to throw his receivers open... he's got great accuracy and armstrength, and may be the best athlete playing the QB position, but he still hasn't completely developed as a passer... he'll get there, but there were times last night when Moss and Crabtree were open and Kapaernick failed to get them the ball.

Who said he was a top 5 QB? For the second time, I certainly never said the guy was a top 5 QB in the league. I think he is a top 8 QB. That could certainly change with the development of some of the younger guys in Kaepernick, RGIII, Luck and Wilson, but right now I would definitely have the guy in the top 8.
