The ravens won those games, not just flacco. But go ahead Baltimore, pay him Drew Brees money. Get caught up in the moment.

This.

He has the Ravens defense, Ray Rice, Torrey Smith, and Anquan Boldin.

The guy is a good QB, but this was a team effort no doubt. PLEASE give him Drew Brees money.

I'm not a Ravens fan. Nor do I think Flacco deserves Brees money. But these bull shite Flacco haters need to pull their heads out of the sand. He has an undeniable proven record of success as a starting QB in the NFL. And he deserves the big contract he's about to get. Back-to-back division titles, 8 playoff wins in five fears, a Superbowl championship - that's pretty good.

Having a good all-around team means nothing if you don't have a top QB. Just look at how inconsistent the Steelers were before they got Big Ben or how mediocre the Ravens were in the latter days of the Billick era.

Remember last year when people were pushing Eli as elite, how did this year go?

You mean kinda like what Brees has done since getting paid.

SlowFloPro (sp?), tigerinstaugustine, wildtigercat93. Off the top of my head.

The responses you're seeing here, and heck, the existence of this thread, are why my thread was NOT an example of trolling...

removing brees from that discussion was the problem

cap hit doesn't typically reflect what you were paid in that year

his team has a pretty good record of success

that team is built by not overpaying guys and having a bunch of really good guys getting paid like good guys

you take a flacco and have him eat up 1/6 of their cap, and they're not going to afford 4-5 starters

is joe flacco worth 1/4 - 1/5 of their starting lineup?

joe flacco had 2 of the worst games in NFL history this year

that team won a super bowl with trent dilfer and then upgraded teh QB position and didn't win another one

None of those guys hate Flacco.

It seems that in today's world a person is called a "hater" if they have an objective, well reasoned, unbiased opinion about an athlete.

That's a good point. May be the best reason to consider dialing back Flacco's contract. Nevertheless, he's earned a big payday. I guess the only question now is how big. Anybody with half a brain realizes that Flacco shouldn't get Brees money.

Looks pretty "elite" to me. Flacco has played lights out lately.

let me just put this in perspective

joe flacco was the 12th rated passer in the NFL this year

his completion rate was 18th

his ypa was 14th

he was 25th in ESPN's total QBR

I want to bite the bait, but I won't. I want to though.

And McElroy, I said I think he's a good QB. Just not a top 4 guy. I hope he gets paid like one though.

He played great these playoffs, so kudos to him.

Unless I misread what he posted in this thread, SlowFlo said Flacco doesn't deserve to be paid just because of his SB run this year. I disagree. He had a history of success and winning big games even before this year.

And either tigerinstaugustine or wildtigercat93 - I don't keep records on posters, so I don't remember which one - said Flacco isn't a top 10 QB. Both have had nothing but bad things to say about him in in-game threads throughout the playoffs. Yet, he continued to win. . .

He played his best when it mattered most. The thread title highlights that fact.

Flacco is Elite and there is no question...he played incredible and made some tremendous plays in that game...he was basically Romo without the boneheadedness.
