Ok, so I hate myself right now.... had a MTGOX account for months with .2 BITCOIN and never bought more as planned.. Anyway, I need to purchase 1.0 BITCOIN in order to execute buy/sell orders.... Anyone live in Baton Rouge who can sell me a BITCOIN at slightly over market? I'd prefer to meet in public location with wifi (maybe coffee house, id prefer anything but starbucks)!

LONG TERM: obtain riches in order to dominate the world....

SHORT TERM: have enough bitcoin to place market orders on MTGOX... MINIMUM is 1.0

there are other exchanges out there. you can check out btc-e.com, bitstamp.com, among others. I don't know if they have a minimum trade amount.

the exchanges I listed above deal with fiat, so they are typically more complex.

if you want to play in a pure alt-coin market, then you can check out an exchange like mcxnow.com

mcxnow even pays a percentage of all exchange fees to all depositors. so your .2 bitcoins could grow to .25 bitcoins just by letting them sit there for a while

Can you post the sites that you've used to do research on bitcoins?

If you ask specific questions I'll be happy to answer them.

Otherwise, these two pages are good starts:

I won't make any snide comments about Magic the Gathering Online Exchange as their ability to conduct transactions in the U.S. is questionable at best. But I would like to know how mcxnow can pay interest on deposits? What sort of fiducuary duty does mcxnow have to its depositors? Who provides assurance that mcxnow is actually paying 25% of the transaction fees it collects to depositors, and that the 25% of transaction fees are being apportioned among the depositors properly?

Are you sure you want to suggest people let others have control of their Bitcoins? Depositing them with mcxnow means mcxnow has the ability to use them for whatever unregulated purpose it desires.

aren't free markets great? people can choose to freely economically interact with others or choose not to.

When do they take you back to your cell Mr. Madoff? Wouldn't it have been nice for Bernie if there weren't any laws to punish him for the free economic interactions he had with willing participants?
