Been looking into getting an American Express but can't decide which one to get. Currently have the Chase freedom and Discover It with good rotating categories for rewards.

Thinking about either the Amex Green or Blue Cash Every day for my next card

Comparison From Amex Website

The green is actually a charge card, not a credit card. The blue seems to have a better rewards system, but the green may be better to eventually upgrade to gold then platinum. The green also has a $95 annual fee. Looking for answers on which would probably be a better card to build credit and establish a relationship with Amex.

If you spend over $2500 on grocery stores, go with the Blue Preferred.

Caveat...Target and Walmart do not count as grocery stores.

I also looked into that one, don't think I spend enough in those categories to cover the annual fee.

You're saying you spend less than $105/month at a grocery store? If you just buy your vitamins/pharmacy stuff there + food + beer and still don't make it that's nuts

Blue Cash preferred is easily my favorite card for things that aren't in the discover 5% category. Between gas/groceries/pharmacy I get some $50 per month back in rewards

If you enjoy traveling, I am a big fan of the Starwood Amex.

I agree with you but the OP may not spend much money at grocery stores. As another poster mentioned, Walmart, Target, Sams, Costco don't count.

ETA: the better question is... why is the OP set on Amex cards only?

Have a shell gas card. And don't spend very much on groceries. If that began to change I could likely upgrade to the preferred correct?

It didn't look like it had any real befits. I want to eventually have the platinum so I figured getting a green an upgrading could be a good way to do it.

If not could this also be done by starting with the Blue cash or blue cash preffered.

And is there any real benefits to having a charge vs credit card. I don't really need to carry a balance and plan to pay in full each month.

Would this be much harder to be approved for that the regular blue cash or even the green.

I have a good credit score but less than a year of credit history.
Currents Cards
-Chase Freedom: $500 credit limit
-Discover IT: $1,500 credit limit

The Premier Rewards Gold is what I have and it is pretty great. Some changes go into effect June 1.

3x on flights, 2x on restaurants, gas, groceries. I got a 50,000 point sign up bonus and in 6 months now have 120,000 Amex points - enough for some international free flights. It costs $195/year but you get $100/year in airline credit (similar to Platinum). Customer service and phone app are both impressive.

Seconded. I down graded from PLatinum into the PRG, simply for the extra points and not using the platinum features as often.

I did however take advantage of a 100k point signup bonus for the platinum. The Gold and Platinum share membership reward points, so a phone call was all i needed to change cards.

Yup, my favorite card. Also has a low fee for an Amex.
