Does anyone know where to get a loan in Nola without having to worry about credit. Not looking for payday loan. I have a job and can pay back but I can't get a conventional loan.

You have terrible credit and (apparently) insufficient savings, yet you want to take out a loan which carries an exorbitant rate of interest?

What could possibly go wrong?

Can you get a cash advance on a credit card?

High rates, but can be discharged in bankruptcy if you can't pay, and they won't break your legs.

What for? Need to know details before I consider lending. What collateral do you have?

I guarantee you are getting ripped off on whatever car repairs you need. I would try my hardest to shop around or ask friends that know cars for help before I go to a loan shark. And what does your son need for school that is so expensive??

You don't even qualify for 20% interest loans on lendingclub.com?

Yikes

if that's true I'm being serious, you're probably better off declaring bankruptcy.

I'm not getting ripped off, I've had multiple places give me an estimate and I'm going with the cheapest. My car has a lot of damage and I only liability insurance.

I was thinking mechanical repair not collision. In that case I would do the smallest/cheapest amount of repair possible to get the car roadworthy. Driving around an ugly car for a while is a lot better than taking a very high risk loan. I know you are in a tough spot but just make sure you exhaust all your options before going to a loan shark.

I'm not having luck finding one anyway so it's not like it really matters

Scrap the car and buy a used beater that runs fine.

Hell you can just buy a used car that runs for far less. I sold my wife's old college car for $2900 earlier this year. '06 Malibu with 190,000 miles. Could have gotten far more for it but didn't feel like holding on to it. Thing ran like a champ. That said, if $3500 is your repair bill I'd just go buy a $1500-$2000 beater than runs and fix the other one when times are better. Far cheaper and maybe you can even just sell your one now and not owe anyone anything.

It's nice how everyone wants to tell me reasons not to try and find the money, but that's not what I want or need. If I didn't want the money and any cost I wouldn't be trying to find it.

If you are dead set on it, look at the "financial services" section of your local Craigslist.

If you had listened to the advice that people have probably tried to give you in the past, you probably wouldn't be searching for a loan shark for $3500
