Is this still a decent fund to be in? It's a small percentage of my allocation but hasnt been doing too well the past couple years? Thoughts?

I own the ETF version VDE, about $15,000 or so and I have been wondering the same lately. Haven't added to it in a while and I don't see it getting back to my cost basis anytime soon, I'm off about 20% since 2010 I believe, ignoring reinvestment of dividends.

Edit: Vanguard says I'm only down 2.1% net of dividend reinvestment since initial investment on 2/1/11. A very small victory for my very very small piece of the energy sector!

I think energy costs will stay low for the next 3-5 years, with the low cost of onshore energy production and general global oversupply.

I have a 30+ year horizon and this is the only laggard in my portfolio over the last 9 years.

I also am invested a little in the ETF - VDE. It's down but I do believe it will come back to make some money for us. I'd say buy now while it's low. That's what I've been doing.
