Has anyone used this before? I will soon be in the market for a new car, and to avoid the hassle and shenanigans of car buying I was thinking about using this as it is a free service with my membership. I'm looking at something like a Jetta or Passat TDI.

I live in the DC area so I am not hurting for dealership options. Would I be better off spending a few Saturdays going around to dealers trying to beat them down from the MSRP (granted it won't be much further down) or should I use a service like USAAs?

Thanks for the help!

I used it to by my Jeep here... Would highly recommend it

I did some hunting and other dealers were unwilling to match the deal I was offered through USAA (In DC and down in LA)

I might try this some day.

Highjack: Bacon, that Furman guy I know wasn't the guy you mentioned in that thread. I hate leaving people hanging on here.

I used it to leverage the local dealer to match the price.

I barely watch MTV unless the fiancee does, and she wasn't around back then.

However, I can tell you who is doing well on the latest Challenge.

Bacon, can you haggle down from the USAA price listed? Or is it set in stone? I'm looking for a used highlander and it doesn't seem to be that great unless I can get the price down more

I used something similar and it went very smooth. I'm not big on face to face negotiations, would rather pay and get the frick out.

They handled the trade and everything. Nohaggles.com similar service.

I haven't watched it since early college days... thats why it was more tongue in cheek

It maybe possible I'm not sure... I would go in and tell them you are interested and not tell the USAA part to see where you can get them down to. You know you can get it for that price.

Thanks for the tips Bacon. By the way, love the avatar. I flew ATL-DCA this week and was number 41 for an upgrade... I'm Gold.

The dehubbing has been on going for a while now, only major city pairs from here on out. I'm flying through there on my way to New Orleans this December and stuck on a CRJ to MSY. Those 717s can't get there fast enough lol.

I love the CRJ 900's... but I have a feeling you are talking about the tiny CRJ 200's which is always half of my segment

Love the 900s, best ratio of F to Y in the fleet, even the 700s are pretty solid, they run a bunch between DCA-CVG... but those old 200/100s are

I really wish DL connection carriers would have bought more 175s over the 700/900s. I love those ERJs

The 175 is the tits. Did JAX-MSP in that a few weeks ago.

SM6 - let me know what price you get on the Jetta TDI...just bought one on Monday.

Used it and got a non-USAA dealer to match their price, which was $2k less than their "bottom line."
