I got a red light ticket years ago and under the advice of multiple people and the internet i didnt pay it. Everything that was said has happened (ticket, mail money to some out of state company, then a letter from a lawyer from another state, then nothing.) Just the hit credit score.

As stated from all the research that i can contact the credit management companies and get this removed since i was not under contract, etc.

Has anyone done this recently?

UPDATE: Credit company removed the collection hit on my report one month after i disputed it.

YAY!

Who put it on the report? Was it the camera company, or do you think they sold the debt?

I'm curious to see how you could prove it's not your debt. It seems to me all the creditor would have to do to validate the debt is show the original citation, along with the fact that you owned the vehicle at the time of the citation.

I paid one

They said i owed them 75 more because i was late.

I gots so mad i paid my lawyer 4 times that much to write them a letter. His letter basically said that he felt it was a violation of the free credit laws ..... i forget why.

Anyway never heard about it again.

It just now hit your credit? Years after the original ticket?

Dispute the charge with the credit agency and ask for the promissory note from the supposed creditor whom is making the claim.

I've never had one... But if you dispute it and they reach out to the agency making the claim and they cannot provide documentation showing that the debt was agreed upon, it should be pulled.

In all reality, they will reach out to redflex or whomever the scam company is and they will never respond... After X days of no response, the credit agency will remove it from your credit.

I made a deal with them to delete everything from my wife's credit and in return I paid in full. Didn't have time to wait around while I fought with them or disputed.

Got one in Denver almost 3 years ago. Never paid the $75 fine.

According to the Denver defense attorney I contacted & several articles I read online, they had to serve me in person within 90 days. If that didn't occur, then they would dismiss it.

Since I live over 1,200 miles away, I never heard a thing other than the initial letter in the mail.

Don't know how many other states have similar statutes regarding photo tickets.

Photo tickets - thank God that Mississippi was smart enough to get away from this scourge on humanity.

Just dispute it and it will disappear. There is no paperwork saying you agreed to pay them money and they are not a government agency.

You have to have broke an agreement to pay for it to stay on your credit

This is under the credit hit.

Estimated month and year that this item will be removed: 01/2018

So should I dispute it or just wait another 3 years....I mean my credit isnt bad at all i have great credit. but without this i would have outstanding credit.

under the dispute i have these options.

Investigate ownership:
-This is not my account, it belongs to a relative or person with similar name/address
-I am no longer liable for this account
-I am no longer liable for this account per divorce decree
-Creditor agreed to remove my liability on this account
-I have no knowledge of this collection account
-This account was fraudulently opened by someone who stole my identity

I'm just curious - did you run the red light or not?

Is there an option for charge not agreed to?

Given these options, I would say "I am no longer liable for this account" - the camera company would then have to prove that you are liable.

Yes I had one from the speeding camera in baker. It went on my credit report. I contacted trans Union on their website via online dispute form. I put that I had no record of an agreement to purchase goodd or services. 1 month later it was off my credit report.

looks like this is the route, because mine was in baker as well.

what option did you put? Investigate Ownership or accuracy? here are the accuracy options.
-Balance is incorrect
-This account was paid to the original creditor prior to becoming a collection or charge-off
-I have never made a late payment
-Insurance paid this account late, remove late payments
-Statement not received due to change of address, remove late payments
-This account is included in my bankruptcy
-Terms are incorrect
-Creditor agreed to remove charges and/or fees
-Creditor agreed to remove this account from my file
-Fraudulent charges were made on my account
-This account is settled
-This account is transferred to another lender
-This account is paid
-This account was closed by Consumer
-This record contains multiple inaccuracies, please verify accuracy of all data
-I am a victim of a natural or declared disaster.
-I have Active Military Duty status
-Account is deferred
-Credit limit and/or high balance is incorrect
-Contract has been cancelled
-Account is involved in litigation
