As far as oil ETF's go, check out DBO. It tracks crude pretty well. It is actively managed so it generally tracks closer than OIL or USO.

How are the dividends on those funds? I considered that but it's hard to pull the trigger because I find the dividends are ~50-70% less than the big name companies

No dividend at all in oil ETFs.

I'm looking at XLE- 2.4% yield right now. Hard to pass on COP at high 4s and CVX at low/mid 4s though. That big difference is holding me back from jumping into fund.

Isn't it a no-brainer to buy big oil right now? This is oil we are talking about. It WILL go up. And all these people are selling.

shite. I hate these days!
ETA: I still believe in the overall downtrend in oil. 40s in January.

What about on some of these ETF/ETNs?

Just start buying and average down with as much as you feel the need. There's nothing wrong with buying oil ETF's with crude in the mid 50s...and if this happens to be the bottom, you'll have done well.

Oil at $45 and oil company prices seem to be stabilizing

I still feel like it's only the 2nd inning.
