Supplemental Health Insurance

My wife and I are planning on trying to get pregnant in the next couple months, and we were wondering if supplemental health insurance was something that we needed to look into. What do I need to look at with my current health policy to see if supplemental coverage is warranted? Also, can anyone recommend some companies to get quotes from, besides the duck?

Metlife is looking to enter the supplemental market and Statefarm has a side that does group business.
The best way to purchase supplemental is through your employer. A number of companies offer supplemental that can be offered through payroll and should be tax free. If not, doesn't cost the company to offer these potential benefits other than to add to payroll billing so worth talking with your HR about it. Save some money
Aflac dominates the supplemental health care market right now and from both personal stories asw ell as my understanding of the company, they are extremely easy to work with.
That said, ensure that they have coverage for pregnancies in your policy as a huge issue in years past were people buying supplemental to essentially profit from being pregnant.

Check BCBS. I have one thru them and by far the cheapest for me. I have there plan "F" which covers everything 100% that Medicare doesn't. Cost me $350 a month.

It's good if you have a chronic illness and expect recurrent hospitalizations, and have Medicare only. For a baby, I would just pay a deductible out of pocket.

That is me. Only spent 9 days in the hospital this year with many trips to the ER. Last year I spent more then 75 days in.
It looks like I will be going in to the hospital today or tomorrow.

You should get supplemental insurance then
Technically though, it isn't insurance since you know you will be going in. People like you break the system
