Poster is trying to decide on a watch in the $8000 range.
Would you rather buy a watch or $8000 of a quality dividend paying stock?

Thank you for pointing that out, but that is not the question.
I am just curious about the perspectives of the OT vs The Money Board.

Can't imagine paying that much for a watch. I think Brietling watches are pretty rad, but no way I'd pay that much for a watch.

I inherited my grandfather's Rolex and never wear it.

It's a dumb question.

You're intent is to blast someone for buying a luxury item.

Not everyone wants to drive around in a Toyota Corolla with a Casio on their wrist.

Some people can afford rolex's and benzs.

is there really that big a difference between an $8k watch and a cheap watch? It's not like some girl is gonna lose her mind and let you bang her bc of an $8k watch and its highly doubtful anyone is going to be impressed by that watch. Watches only get cool and impressive when you're talking Richard Mille,Patek Phillipe,Audemars Piguet, etc and the reality is most people don't even know wtf that is.

So tell the OT to stick to the watch on their phone and save the $8k for something wiser.

Yet you couldn't even splurge for the premium membership that lets you have letters in your name? smh

And I think his intent was to ask the Money Board whether they'd rather spend $8000 on a watch or on a dividend paying stock.

I hear you, Im just saying if your 2 options are a mediocre watch or investing it, then clearly invest it bc the kind of people who buy nice watches dont have to contemplate what to do with the money. If you're still at the level of should I do x or y, do the smart thing and invest it.

I was just ribbing him for fricking up your/you're

I'm not judging. This question can't be answered in a vacuum. Right now, I'm taking the stock. If I'm making $500k a year, I take the watch. It's all relative.

I'd rather a 8k dollar bike but to each his own. But since the choices are watch or invest, I'd invest 8k.

Now if the choice was 1k watch or invest 1k, I'd probably go watch. Because I'm needing a new dress watch and if I could switch out bands, that'd be nice. Any recs?

Congratulations on not knowing the difference between action and intent
