Residential RE experts - experience with relocation firms

Quick background - I purchased a home in January and after the inspection period the sellers involved a corporate relocation firm in the transaction. The deed between myself and the relo firm as seller has an executed date in December and an effective date of the closing in mid-January. Likewise, there is a deed between the relo and the original owners with the same dates. Who has legal title to the property on January 1, the original owners or the relo firm?

I've done this and my company acted as the relocation firm for me as the seller. I signed over the house to them once a purchase agreement was signed. I got my money prior to the new buyers closing, so I assume the company would have full ownership. I kind of was able to just walk away at that point. If the sale fell through, it was on the company, so I didn't pay much attention.
