Redeeming credit card points

What has made you cave in and cash them out and how much was it? For airfare? gift cards?

Airfare, hotels, gift cards.
Wish I was better at the game when I first started several years ago. We did a big house remodel and it put a ton of stuff on my credit card. Got a $500 Ruth's Chris gift card out of that.
I'm sure it went have been much better to have been using a hotel or airline brand credit card.
Sitting on enough points for two nice round trips on an airline right now but can't the the wife and I off work long enough to use them right now.
Got a decent stash of Hilton points now too. Probably will take the family to stay a few nights for free at the Roosevelt in NOLA around Christmas time

Cave in?? They don't do any good just sitting there, and they're becoming less valuable all the time - Amex just decreased the exchange rate to British Airways miles.
I always transfer to airline miles. On my last trip I got about $.10/point in value, exchanging for a gift card is $.01/point.
