Price of a 2011 F150

Got quoted a price of 29750 for a 2011 lariat with 5000 miles. It was a demo, I think the price is pretty decent but i am unsure. Could I do better? or is this a good deal?

What options (engine, crewcab, nav, sunroof, rearview camer, etc, etc)? What's the MSRP?

crew cab lariat, with rearview camera 5.0 engine. MSRP was 40750

i am also getting the same quoted price for a similar 2011 lariat but that one includes the easy tailgate access and nav for 29k and no miles. msrp was originally 42000. I would prefer the original lariat I posted about but I do not want to pay the same price, but they seam stubborn on not budging anymore. Does anyone have any tactics that I can try and use ?

Disclaimer...These are not exact figures, but figures derived from seemingly accurate websites and knowledge from previously being in the car industry:
Demo MSRP is 40,750
Invoice approx $36,950
Rebates are $3500
Trade assist $1000
Finance thru Ford $1000
That brings the price down to $31,450 if sold at invoice price. Holdback is approx another $1100 so that brings the price to $30,350 if they did not make a single penny off the front end. So if they are selling it for $29,750 then it appears to me they are selling it for a $600 loser trying to make the extra up in finance (warranty, insurance, etc).
Not a bad deal for you at all, IMHO. Now of course it is a demo, but you still have 31k miles under warranty to go.
It looks like the one with nav and tailgate step (awesome feature btw) is a fantastic deal. They are definitely trying to get that one off the lot.
And the price they are quoting you is DEFINITELY including all those rebates above. If you do not finance thru Ford, you will get a higher price.
Edit: I could definitely be off by a few hundred dollars total on invoice price and/or holdback. Just estimations.

Will Cover will be along shortly to say buy a 2007 XL and pay cash. Nice vehicles are for dumbasses.

I've been casually lookin at trucks on autotrader, etc, and that seems like a pretty good deal, esp the one with Navigation. I keep seeing used F-150's with those same options in the mid 30's.
I'd probably go with the brand new one just because it has the extra options, assuming it's not some hideous color.

Well of course there are exceptions to every rule.

I got my new 2011 F150 crew cab from breaux bridge in January for a little under 23k after all of the rebates etc. I sent emails to every dealership within 100 miles and when I got the lowest offer, I forwarded that email to all of the other dealerships and everyones bottom line was suddenly a few thousand dollars lower. In the spirit of full disclosure, mine has auto locks and windows but that's about it as far as "upgrades". I didn't go with the fancy upgrades etc. but for 22k and some change I felt like it was well worth it. Also, I got my 2011 new in January of 2012. It was one of only two 2011's that the Breaux Bridge dealership had, so its possible that they were just trying to unload what they had left. It's a great truck btw. Good luck with your negotiations.

I just picked up a new FX4 F150 fully loaded. Love this truck!! Good luck!

Why not contribute some knowledge then? What did you pay?
Posted on 7/7/12 at 9:56 am to LSUBD6
I paid $31k for a 2011 FX2. Love the truck. Was a manager demo with 1500 miles or so. Not a scratch on it. Sounds like a good deal to me.

can you do this breakdown for me on another make/model?
Posted on 7/8/12 at 8:47 am to TortiousTiger
I can sure try. I am more knowledgeable with Fords, but I'm sure I can find the info. Post the make, model, options, and msrp and I will look it up. I won't be back to the 'net til early evening though.

Boy they discounted it a whole $1000 for the internet huh? LOL. Actually it looks like the discounted it $2000....I don't think your MSRP included the destination charge.
I built a 2011 Sequoia Limited with all your options ($3199 wheels), and I came up with MSRP $56067 + $985 destination for a total of $57,052.
MSRP $57,052
Invoice $51,369 (markup of $5683)
Holdback is approx $1200-$1600
**So they have about $50k in the vehicle
So the dealership would be making about $5000 if they sold it at the internet price of $55k.
Limited and Platinum editions are pretty scarce, so they are not going to give them away. But I think you could probably get it for about $52k...possibly a little lower if they think they can make money off you in finance. Search around to determine what all dealerships around have them. Email them (or call the sales manager) and make them give you a really good price before you go in. They cannot sell you a vehicle unless you are there in person, so they have to get you in somehow.

A few miles as in about 5k and it was a demo?
Edit: Duh, i just saw the link and it said 220 miles. That shouldn't give you too much negotiating room. They might throw in a free oil change or 2.

Just pulled up a window sticker, and MSRP is $51,270. You can view the link here:
Window Sticker
Here's the truck built on NADA guides, hopefully the link works:
NADAguides
NADA link did not work correctly. It did not take the options I added, but you can always add them yourself to see it.
For some reason, NADA has the base price high by $75. Let's assume the invoice price is high by $75 as well:
MSRP: $50,270 (after $1k lariat savings)
Invoice: $44,976
Markup: $5,294
Holdback: Approx $1000
*It's tough to find an exact holdback figure.
It is usually 2-3% so I assume 2% to undershoot
it.
**So they have approx $44,000 in the truck
$3,000 rebate
$750 trade in assistance
More than likely they are factoring in trade assist in their internet advertised price of $41,095. To break exactly even counting holdback, they would have to sell it at approx $40,250. So it looks like they are making approx $850 on the deal (and considering holdback is approx $1000, they are selling it below invoice price).
**Normally there is a $1,000 Ford Motor Credit Rebate, but I cannot get great information on the rebates. Actually, I am almost positive there is still this rebate. What that means is they are already factoring that rebate into the internet price, so they are probably making about $1850 on the deal. And they will raise the price to $42,095 if you do not finance thru FMCC.
That actually looks like a pretty good deal whether they are making $850 or $1850. Don't be afraid to play hardball and email their internet sales team to try to get a better price before going in.
