Sunday, Pfizer unsuccessfully made a last ditch offer for Astra valued at $119 Billion. Friday, Pfizer bid £53.50 a share which was rejected. Then Sunday, another bid was made for £55 or $92.50 a share. The latest rejected bid would've given existing shareholders 1.747 shares of the COMBINED company AND £24.76 in cash. AstraZeneca shares now down over 10% but kudos for their board for turning that down- not sure if I could've resisted that.
Ridiculous numbers
(Pfizer makes Viagra and Lipitor while Astra makes cancer-related drugs)

Sounds like Pfizer patents may be running out and they need a new cash cow soon.

This. They've been doing this for well over a decade now. Not working so great for them. The last one I remember them really building up and developing themselves was inhaled insulin and it was a complete flop. I loaded up on Pfizer, just in case, as soon as I found out about it. Those share still only half of what I bought them for. Thanks for dividend reinvestment. Otherwise
