Yes, she's pregnant. She has an 07 xterra with 72k on it. It's paid off as is my car.

Our house costs $870 a month and I'm starting my first real job this month.

It hasn't had any problems. Also, we live a combined 6 miles from where we work. I don't feel like getting new car(s) anytime soon would be a smart move.

I think it's because he family growing up and traded in and out of cars often and mine drove cars in the ground

I'm a $ guy and think about it all the time. I think we need to see how our baby changes the checking account for a while before getting into a car.

Besides, the car has a lot of life left.

Ditto.
I just looked at her for a while and . I knew I was going to get her one, but made her pout about it for a while and wait as long as possible. Whatever in the hell did we do before the SUV?

Same here. We bought a 2010 traverse LT2. 5 star crash, not all bells and whistles but same body as acadia, paid 32k vs 40kfor Acadia

For formula and diapers

We had twins - I was in Law School - I can remember this being the single biggest budget item - ahead of rent.

I remember scratching my head, "How are formula and diapers consuming 30% of the budget?"

Oh, yeah - there's 2 of them.

Yeah. These mid-size SUVS are just sharper looking minivans.
Before the minivans, kids made it just fine in the back seats of cars though . I couldn't really argue because I agree with her, but I think it's just as much a status thing for them as well.

Formula, doctors bills, and daycare = $1,200-$1,400/month. Add in new SUV and I'm spending an extra $2k more per month than I was before.

Might be me. I am at least 7 months ahead of you. I will probably give in after Q1 of next year.

I got her ride detailed.

Hopefully a clean car makes her forget it for a while.

For me:

TV/internet = $0 included service from condo association
Water/Gas = $0 (same)
Energy = $20/month (high rise condo building temp kept at 72 degrees)
Security System = $0
Gasoline: $210/month (inlcudes 40 miles per day of commute)
Groceries = $300
Car ins = $50/month
Student Loans = $0
Cell phone = $60

I was giving a typical example for south Louisiana. I mentioned already this was not my budget.

I'm not sure if you are bragging or disappointed in your situation.

You mentioned the 250k mortgage and nice car. I was just pointing out the numbers that would go along with that.

Your numbers are pretty close to reality....not sure why the other guys find that so ridiculous?

Water, gas, and electricity might be a little high...gasoline depends on what you're driving and how far each month.

I don't think we're talking about living an Amish lifestyle (not that there's anything wrong with that!)...
