My son knows he effed up .. making a B in communication. Wants to withdraw, re-take for the 'A'.

Cost aside, is it worth withdrawing from a Communications class (W on transcript) in order to come back later for the 'A'?

Over a B? I wouldn't bother. You must be Korean or something.

I never gave my transcript to anyone after I graduated. Even if I did, I would be VERY proud of my B.

Yes, if cost and time or no issue then why shouldn't he?

It sounds like you have a good boy.

I would think it would be letter to just leave it as a B, because they might just scroll through lookig for and letters that arent A and B. They might see the W and not even check further to see if he went back and got an A.

All that aside though, do employers even look at individual grades? I thought they just checked the g.p.a.

That's how I'm leaning.

But since posting this, I realized there's more. Entry into his undergrad Business School is competitive, so the gpa could matter in that way.

Does he have any free retakes? Some schools give you say 2 retakes that won't penalize you. If that is the case, I would suggest he finish with the B and then retake it at another time instead of withdrawing and not completing the course.

What does a B on a transcript have to do with a resume? Nobody checks those these days anyway.

Land your helicopter and tell him to talk to a girl. He'll be fine.

Are Graduate schools that anal??? I mean, they basically cost as much as a house, but before they'll even gouge you, you have to meet their standards. If success was guaranteed, I could see the costs and expectations being justified.

Man I'm glad straight A's aren't a prerequisite for actually running a successful business.

I would never hire a person with all A's, it's a character flaw in my book.

Same here, just GPA. And you can have a GPA north of 3.6 with like 8 B's so one isn't going to hurt.

No. I already had my opinion. I just find sometimes the MT is a good sounding board (not the OT).

This is not coming from me. He initiated it. This is his idea.

He's at UGA .. playing gigs in downtown Athens and frattin on Milledge. Lack of girls is not the problem.

Terry College of Biz is .. and some Majors are in the Biz College are very competitive .. not that's he vying for those.

No doubt...give me a kid that has a 2.4 over a 4.0 every day.
