I was just in a interview and I was asked to give a salary range. I believe I lowballed myself :/ I should've said I wasn't prepared to answer on the first interview. Will this affect my potential offer down the road?

In my experience they always offer a little less than you tell them you are looking for. If they really want you, you can try to negotiate and tell them upon doing some research you feel the average market range is higher, or try to negotiate signing bonus or other benefits.

Don't say you're not prepared. That won't help.

This will definitely hurt your potential offer. When I have to hire people I have a budgeted range for a resource. But I usually ask them what they need to make and offer them 10% less than that if it's close to or below my range. It's not my money since I'm just a manager but if I don't do that I hear from my boss who hears from his boss, etc.

Of you lowballed yourself, it will definitely affect you offer. Always be prepared by researching average pay for a position ahead of time.

Forget the "higher end salary" on your scale. I would go for 4 weeks paid vacation.

Paid vacation is vastly overlooked, and it shouldn't be. One's quality of life increases substantially when you don't have to factor in lost pay when you're budgeting for a trip.

Go for both.

I never give my salary in interviews. That's like making the first offer on a purchase - it always puts you at the disadvantage.
