I will be an incoming freshman next year at LSU and I don't know if I should do work study or not. Would it benefit me more to just get an on campus job or to do work study? I also want to get the full college experience (LSU games and other activities) while having a job and having time for studying. Any advice?

If you are paying your own way and are concerned with keeping undergrad debt to a minimum to be in a better position for graduate school, then the responsible approach is to work throughout as much as possible and limit expenditures (aka fun). If you are the average LSU jackwagon looking for a good time and seeing where this road takes you, then forget the work study and figure that shite out later, take student loans - especially if they are still handing out undergrad subsidized loans. Take all that shite you can get.
I worked and paid for my undergrad (TOPS helped a ton) and still took max interest-subsidized loans throughout undergrad that I later applied to grad school, because interest tolled while a full-time student. Just some things to consider.

I did work-study when I was at LSU. Depending on what you are interested for a career there can be opportunities that you otherwise wouldn't have gotten or paid to do. (I worked in a basic science research lab and did research after a year of getting acquainted). Most of the jobs are tailored towards the student. Otherwise you can always work in the library, or some other departmental office.
I never missed any football games/basketball games because of work-study. Given that they are on-campus jobs, the hours are usually reasonable. You can only work so many hours anyway as your work-study award amount is capped to a certain amount (otherwise the department you are working for has o pay you out of their budget instead).
it was nice to have the extra change to spend. With that said, if your goal is to make money to help pay for schooling, there are much better ways than work-study.
