I filed a complaint with a company and they said that I was not eligble for a refund. This was August 18th.

August 19th, I received an email from them saying "after reviewing your case, your refund will be in your account within 10 days".

10 days goes by and I email the customer service rep back and she said it was a mistake. I tell her Id like to speak with someone with more authority than her.

Basically get an email from the senior CS rep saying she would investigate the case. She emails me back saying sorry for the mistake but I didn't qualify for the refund.

Does me having documentation saying I should expect a refund within 10 days hold any weight or should I just cut my losses? It's a 3-4k refund, fwiw.

Were you legally entitled to one? Or was it a mistake ?

If a mistake then you are out of luck, regardless of what the email or letter said

I'll be honest, I got wind of some other ppl I know getting a refund for the same thing so Yeah, if their case deserved a refund then I feel like mine is equal.

They did say no at first and they did say it was a mistake after telling me I would get the refund. I was just wondering if they would have to be accountable for their mistake in the way a store would have to compensate for a mistake in an ad.

I know it's different. I was just curious if anyone with more knowledge about this type of thing could give a little info on it.

You haven't really explained the "thing", but if you honestly think you deserve a refund based on their policy just contact the CC company and they will handle the dispute.
