Age 61 and single
House is paid for
One rent house near LSU paid for
Deferred my pension until I'm 65
What should I invest my money 650 thousand ....in for the long term...
I plan on leaving my estate divided between my 6 sibbling
My rent house I'm leaving to my nephew who lives here..though he doesn't know it
My primary home that i live in now I'm leaving to one sister
Between my pension social security and my income from my rent house I should be ok
I'm taking my pension at 65 and my social security at 66 and four months
What should I invest my 401k now to get some income in till then

Is "long term" ten years from now, or is it estate type planning for the kids?
Rental house paid for?

Define this please. Is this ten years, twenty years, or do you want to leave something significant to someone down the road?
Also think about required minimum distributions. The investment horizon on that is less than ten years away.

well if you get a 5% return on your 650, that's only 32500. Can you live off of that for a while?

Are you looking for growth or growth with income? Will your pension cover your expenses? Might want to consider S&P or Vanguard index funds

Look at self-directed IRA options to get good returns with no management fees and find a good income vehicle or you could put a percentage of your money in and also diversify your money across different spectrums of the market. Just my thoughts…

Give it to me and I'll invest it

shite he could make a ton if he put all that into real estate/rentals. Hell i could make him 65k a year on that money just putting it in some dividend payers.

Have you ever looked into or thought about a self-directed real estate IRA?
Just curious.
I toyed with the idea several years ago, but the record keeping requirements soured me on it.
