I already:
1. executed a credit freeze at the major credit bureaus
2. got the accounts that were opened- closed
3. filed a police report
4. went to my banks and brokerages.
5. paid for more intense credit monitoring
Please suggest other things I may need to do.

What does "more intense" credit monitoring do if you've frozen your credit?

I may be going overboard, but I can always stop that after a year.

About all you can do. It happened to me earlier this year, and they moved on when they realized I had shite locked down.
Change all your online passwords is one I'd add.
Mine wasn't complete identity theft. They somehow hacked into 3 of my credit card accounts online and requested new cards. All 3 companies caught it before anything happened, but it still shook me.

Someone opened an Ally bank account with all of my wifes info a few years ago. Aside from everything you did, we also put a password on our bank account.
Any transactions (face to face at the branch) require us to tell the attendant our password before we can do anything

How did you figure out someone stole your identity?

Was informed at work that there had been a cyber attack and info was compromised.
looked at my credit score, it went down because of "too many new accounts."
