i'm not with them but i do sell their product. They can be very cheap with good credit etc. Their underwriting is a bit of a pain but i wouldn't hesitate to be with them. Pretty much 90% of companies writing in the NOLA area are demotech rated companies, the high horse AM Best rated holier than thou speeches gets old. Fed National, UPC, Centauri, ASI, Gulfstream, SFIC.... all companies i wouldnt' hesitate to write myself with.

We switched from Liberty to Geico over a year ago same thing, coverage for half the cost. My wife was in an accident 6mos ago and Geico was fantastic, no rate increase either, this was here first auto insurance claim ever so that may have helped.

I added a 4th automobile and a 2nd <18 driver this year. I have Allstate and went with their ePolicy which cut premium by about 20%, also went with $2K deductables. That pretty much cut my premiums in 1/2 from what it would've been otherwise.

I know I'm at some risk going with the $2K deductables, but still somewhat better than dropping to liability only. If the kids have some small fender bender's I'm probably going to have to pony up the money myself anyway and not file a claim.

I checked with Geico for the same coverage and it appears FAR cheaper at $900 per year

My experience with Geico is that they will start you off at a low rate. But over the next few years, your car will all of a sudden become more expensive to insure and they will raise your rates each pay period. I never got a ticket, and I never made a single claim with Geico and my rates increased dramatically.

the problem is the liability part when they want to collect for their neck pains in fender bender. Can't just buy them a new bumper and get on with their lives... if so, you're a lucky man.

We just switched from Progressive to Safeco and are saving 100/month for identical coverage. One thing I did, on the recommendation I received, is I ran the quote listing me first, and then another quote listing my wife first. Listing my wife first on the policy saves us 30/month. I don't understand why.
I just received a quote on Safeco as well, and found it to be about half of what I am paying with Allstate. Like you, about $100 month. I did research on Safeco, and while I see good reviews I see some that say they are a hassle to deal with on claims. That can probably be said for almost anybody; it just gives pause when you see it in writing.

On the listing your wife first, did you run your own quote online somehow? I was quoted by an agent over the phone.
