TurboTax won't allow me to do it online.

I'm the trustee of my nephews' trust (three minors).

Trust has an EIN.

Trust received a K-1 this year.

Yeah, I know I'm late.

Why won't it work? Its been a couple of years, but when I used turbotax in the past i had k-1s and did it. So there should be a way. You may be entering some of the info incorrectly.

I had a K-1 for myself. I easily entered it into my own taxes.

Filing a K-1 online for them wasn't an option.

I could buy a cd for $160 and Turbotax would ship it to me and then I guess the software would allow me to do it.

But I want to file online.

Ok, well so the issue may be you need to upgrade the level of turbotax is what you are saying? Because that may be the case.

Trust should be a 1041.

Not sure why Turbo Tax won't let you file it online.

I can upgrade to every available online option TT has and still can't file it online.

I can buy additional software (that would be shipped to me), not available online, to file through the mail.

I want to file online though.

If I'm going to buy software and have it shipped, I may as well go to an accountant.

Form is definitely a K-1 (1065).
I'm staring right at it.

I guess I'm not understanding the question then. The K-1 would be reported on the Trust's return, and trusts file a 1041 return. Sounds like the trust has an interest in a partnership of some kind.

But I may be completely misunderstanding the situation.

Have to use TurboTax Business, either download or purchase a disk. Do the 1041 form for the trust, can either e-file or print and mail.

Sure, but the actual trust files a 1041. Beneficiaries receive a K-1 for their share of the trust.

Yes, trust is also in partnership with an LLC.

LLC paid dividends to trust last year, hence the K-1.

Yeah, you need to be filing a 1041 for the trust. Is this the first year of the trust?

I'd probably take it to a CPA to handle. Trusts can be a little tricky sometimes. It'll be a couple of weeks before you can see one though, probably. Most take some time off after the tax deadline.

Enough to pay taxes on.

Trust inherited a good chunk of money from my mothers death in May. The trust went into effect the day she died because of her will. The will also named me the trustee.

The trust also earned less than 5K last year from an LLC they are also partnered in.

Sorry I may of misread.

So you are trying to file your trust taxes, or you are trying to file the taxes for your nephews and they received a k-1 from the trust?

I've never filed taxes for a trust. As said yeah that would be a 1041, I'm assuming turbo tax has something for a 1041 that would be different than turbotax for a 1040 individual?

You may want to just hire a CPA/attorney and not have to worry about it
