I'm talking immediate access... Go to bank... Safe... Etc... I have about $21,000 in a savings account and I know I need to do something with it but I want it there in case I need it...

I have very little cash just sitting around. But I can get many tens of thousands immediately (credit card, HELOC) and convert stocks/bonds to cash in time to pay it off at the end of the month.

I don't keep enough to make it worth someone dying to get it. Cause between the dogs, alarms, guns and finally homeowner, the odds of coming out unscathed make it a poor investment.

I you REALLY need it and you're not shithead trash, just ask. I'd probably share anyway. Unless you are an IRS agent. But it's all been claimed and accounted for btw. I promise!!!!!

Do you not have credit cards? Do you plan on paying ransom demands?

Immediate or at the bank?

I have almost zero immediate. Very little in the house. Usually have to borrow from my wife's limited cash from her vinyl business (still <$300).

Bank, access to whatever I need. Savings, checking, stocks, loans, HELOC, Credit Cards, etc. My cash is not fully tied up into illiquid assets (house/cars, etc).

Enough in my immediate grasp to satisfy the infrequent whims of my heart and enough at an arm's length to weather the majority of storms which might arise....I'm good

This. I'm not sure why anyone would feel compelled to have that much cash sitting around.

Where do you keep your emergency account (6 months of expenses)?

I have like $200 in twenties in the gunsafe and $25 in my wallet. I keep enough in my checking to cover 3 months of normal expenses, around $1500 in my rainy day fund and $2500 in my emergency savings. Rest of my money is invested, but I could get ahold of it within a week. I don't see the need for having more than $7500 in cash at any one time.

I have a very stable job/career, so I keep two months in an Ally account. I would use that to pay the credit card bills until I liquidated the necessary amount from my ROTH.

I have significantly more in investments than just six months expenses, so there is no need for a special "emergency" account. If something does come up, I can just sell stocks/bonds/funds as needed.

48000$ cash in trading account and 21000$ in securities (stocks).
I usually add 1500$ month to my tradeking account.
Id always like to have at least 30G cash in case of an emergency

Truthfully? To spend on side pieces so the wife can't track it. No paper trail. I mean that could be a reason. I wouldn't know.

And to hide assets in case she ever did find out. I mean, I wouldn't know but it could be a reason. Like maybe some gold, silver, artwork, guns, cash. Preferably in at least some assets that will appreciate and are fairly liquid.
