How long does it take a dividend payment to show up in your account?

Typically speaking of course. If I am looking at the financial calender for the company, say BP. And the calender says 4qtr dividend payment - 28 Mar 2011, when should I expect this in my account?

scottrade usually has mine within a day or two, but my BP dividend hasn't gone through yet either

why would it not just be an electronic transfer? seems kinda weird to me. Admittedly, this is my first ever div that I have received in a non-taxable account.

What kind of "account" do you have? I receive dividends in my Schwab account the day after pay date 100% of the time.

not sure what this means. It's an investment account with USAA.

That may mean USAA receives all dividends from the payers and then has to distribute the payments to its account holders. Could explain the delay.

Or then again, you may just be fricked......

The check's in the mail, I swear. You should get it in 10 to 15 business days.

With USAA it should be 2-3 days.

So my div went through but my bank did an automatic reinvest and now I have partial shares. I didn't even know that was possible for individual stocks.
